So here are the best fragrances of all time, according to us…

Dior J’Adore EDP

This Dior drop takes MVP (most valued perfume) status. It’s part fruity (pear, peach and plum), and part floral (orchid, violet and freesia) with headier hints of vanilla and musk at the base. It somehow smells as glamorously golden as it looks, and it’s 100% a scent staple. – bh’s Delaney

YSL Mon Paris

“It’s such a distinctive and luxurious scent and I always get asked what it is when I have it on. The bottle is an adorable clear class with black polkadot bow and looks divine on my girly dresser.” – bh’s Sam

Marc Jacobs Daisy

50mL, $90, myer.com.au

“I don’t wear it any more but it was my first ‘grown up’ perfume and I’ve kept a bottle on hand ever since. Reminds me of my youth.” – bh’s Zoë

Aerin fragrances

Available at shop.davidjones.com.au

“Being a beauty journalist I’ve tried them all but I always come back to the Aerin fragrances – they’re all stunning. Plus, she’s constantly launching new ones, which seems to be even better than the one before. Aerin scents are created by Aerin Lauder, Estee Lauder’s granddaughter, so while they’re quite modern and fresh, they have a lot of heritage attached to the collection. I love them all!” – bh’s Kristy

YSL Black Opium

“My favourite scent is YSL Black Opium, I love the sweet but spicy notes with a hint of coffee, and the staying power is just amazing!” – bh’s Natasha

Marc Jacobs Daisy

50mL, $90, myer.com.au

“I always come back to this fragrance. Beyond its beautiful and playful, feminine scent – I also love it because of the way it makes me feel and the place it transports me in my mind every time I catch the fresh, floral aroma – it’s a little happiness in a bottle!” – bh’s Rachel

The Body Shop White Musk

“I’m extremely fussy when it comes to fragrance and don’t like anything too heady or overpowering. But one that’s always stood the test of time for me (ever since I was a teenager actually!) is The Body Shop White Musk EDT. It’s soft and subtle enough that I don’t constantly smell it on myself, but I get these lovely wafts of the fragrance now and then throughout the day, which I love. And the best part is that it’s super affordable too!” – bh’s Deb

Le Labo Santal 33

50mL, $270, mecca.com.au

“As a baby beauty editor, I was lucky enough to work with some of the best beauty journalists in the biz. It was through these wonderful women that I came to hear about the cult of Le Labo Santal 33. When a bottle made its way into the office, each one of the beauty girls began to ‘ooh’ and ‘ah’ over it. Wanting to know what all the fuss was about this small, unassuming bottle, I gave it a spritz and immediately fell head over heels. It’s a heady blend of cardamon, iris, Australian sandalwood, cedarwood, leather and musk that stays on the skin, on your clothes and in your fragrance periphery all day – seriously, one spray is enough for you to leave a lasting impression every time you leave the room (so it’s certainly not one for the wallflowers!). It’s unisex but for me it conjures a feeling of strength, sexiness and understated confidence. The packaging is also customizable, making it even more Gram-worthy, and trust me – once you start wearing it, nothing will ever quite measure up in the perfume stakes again.” – bh’s Kate

Issey Miyake Pure

50mL, $130, myer.com.au

“I love floral fragrances. My favourite is Dolce & Gabbana The One in Rose but sadly that has been discontinued. I’ve always loved Issey Miyake’s fragrances as they are subtle and classic. I’ve recently been given Issey Miyake Pure which is a floral-woody parfum with strong rose notes. It’s just gorgeous!” – bh’s Amber

BYREDO Rose of No Man’s Land

50mL, $160, mecca.com.au

“I’m obsessed with this feminine scent! It’s a mix of Turkish rose petals, pink pepper and raspberry blossom and leaves a base of papyrus and white amber on the skin. It smells absolutely divine and it truly lasts for hours on my skin. I know it’s a little bit exxy, but 5% of the total net sales of this fragrance goes to Doctors Without Borders.” – bh’s Sophie

Jo Malone London Peony & Blush

“My go-to scent would have to be Jo Malone London Peony & Blush Suede Cologne. Jo Malone London fragrances are all so unique, they will transport you back to that special time and place you started wearing the scent. For me, this was one of my wedding fragrances and takes me straight back to our amazing day!” – bh’s Aja

Dior Addict

50mL, $135, myer.com.au

“It’s light and fresh, yet sweet scent makes it the perfect everyday fragrance!” – bh’s Emily

Ayu Ode

30mL, $90, theayu.com.au

“Ayu Ode is my fave fragrance. I love that it is an oil for balancing the mind, body and spirit.” bh’s Bree

Jimmy Choo L’EAU

60mL, $85, myer.com.au

“My signature scent is Jimmy Choo L’EAU which features fruity and floral notes including hibiscus flower, bergamot, sweet nectarine and floral peony. It’s the perfect blend between sensual and sweet and I love that it’s such a refreshing fragrance that’s also full of heart.” – bh’s Steph

BYREDO Gypsy Water

50mL, $160, mecca.com.au

“I get a little skeptical of perfumes with cult followings, and Byredo’s Gypsy Water definitely has one. So I first approached it with a bit of a ‘Pfft, how good could it really be?’ kind of attitude. But the second I had a whiff, I was obsessed. It’s earthy, woody, juicy and makes me feel a LOT cooler than I am. It’s a blend of bergamot, juniper berries, lemon, pepper, incense, orris, pine needle and (my personal favourites) amber, sandalwood and vanilla. I don’t think I’ll ever stop demanding everyone smell me when I wear it!” – bh‘s Ellie
