7 sweet perfumes to wear on your wedding day

The right scent can set the tone for your big day, and a whiff of it can transport you right back to your wedding for years to come. But how do you find the one? Call me old fashioned, but just like the dress, I don’t think the groom should be privy to his bride’s scent before the big day. And, while I admit it’s tempting to wear one of your signature scents, there’s something special about marking your wedding day with a new, sweet spritz.

Chanel Chance Eau Vive

(available July 1)

If you’re a fan of CK One by Calvin Klein, then you’re going to fall head over heels for Chanel Chance Eau Vive. Full of grapefruit and blood orange that pulse on the skin before jasmine, white musk and fresh vetiver take hold, this scent is as romantic as they come. Kick off your shoes and dance barefoot with your loved ones in a garden full of roses underneath a canopy of fairy lights as you enjoy your first few hours as his Mrs.

Giorgio Armani, Sì

Sì is such a gorgeous fragrance, it almost takes your breath away. Bursting with blackcurrant, green pear, freesia and May rose, the modern fragrance ends with a touch of musk, amber wood, vanilla and patchouli. It evokes romance and youth, and is beautiful in its simplicity. In case you can’t tell, it’s true love. You’ll remember the way your new husband looked at you the first time he saw you in your wedding dress, and whispered he loved the way his wife smelled.

Lancôme Trésor Eau de Parfum

The Trésor fragrance is brimming with romantic florals and seductive amber as well as rose, peach, lilac, apricot, iris and vanilla. Say “I do” inside the stained glass windowed church in the heart of your city as the bells ring, then head to the reception where every surface is covered in peonies and David Austen roses, and the expensive French champagne flows freely.

Marni Spice, EDP

For the cool bride in her polkadot veil and her hipster groom in the rolled up chinos and orange bow-tie, there’s no better fragrance for your big day. The composition opens with spicy flavours of black and pink pepper, supported by lemon, ginger and cardamom. At the heart, a floral union of roses, mimosa and jasmine is spiced and sweetened with cinnamon, along with the deep trail of patchouli, benzoin and musk. What’s not to love?

Narciso Rodriguez, Narciso

This goodie from Narciso Rodriguez is equal parts sophisticated and irresistible. With delicate floral notes of rose and gardenia that give way to vetiver and black and white cedars, this fragrance is one of a kind. At the heart, musky notes offer warmth and sensuality. Let the man of your dreams sweep you off your feet in the vineyards of Tuscany. Drink wine with friends and family, as you celebrate the moment with hundreds of sparklers.

Ralph Lauren, Romance

If love had a scent, this would be it. The combination of rose and citrusy oils create a unique melody that cannot be forgotten. Water lily and white violet give this perfume a certain grace, while the spicy notes of carnation and ginger offer a refreshing punch. To finish, oakmoss, white musk and patchouli sink into the skin. Mark the best day of your life with a fragrance that captivates the heart of those around you.

Yves Saint Laurent Paris Eau de Parfum

Are you a sucker for roses? Honour the flower and capture the essence of the most romantic bloom with YSL’s Paris Eau de Parfum. Though it features violet, bergamot, vanilla and vetiver, it’s dominated by its hearty may rose and iris accords. It’s deep, elegant and cool. Rest assured, you’ll fall madly in love with it.
