The strangest scents you'll ever sniff
If I had to guess, I’d say your favourite fragrance is comprised of sweet fruit or floral top notes and mysteriously woody undertones - the kind of scents that remind you of salty air, a bouquet of blooms or the smell of clean sheets. But would you ever consider wearing a perfume that smells like pungent cheese, the last funeral you attended, or even weirder, bodily secretions?!
Yep, there’s a whole world of weird fragrances out there, and these are just some of the most bizarre and downright outrageous perfumes we’ve come across. Hey, you never know... you might even find one that takes your fancy. Go on, let your fragrance freak-flag fly!
The Demeter Fragrance Library consists of more than 250 unique fragrances inspired by everyday objects and experiences. In the library, you’ll find wonderful scents like Birthday Cake and Fruit Salad, unusual ones like Sushi and Play-Doh, and then there’s these…
A blend of white flowers, stems and leaves with an oriental carpet, this fragrance is reminiscent of a funeral home. A spritz of morbidity, anyone?
This obtruse scent is a combination of the sea, sweet meat and a hint of butter. It’s interesting, sure, but really stretches the concept of wearable fragrance.
The idea of smelling like a fresh coat of paint may intrigue some, but not us. Leave it for the walls, people.
It’s impossible not to have an opinion on this one! Vulva Original is not actually a perfume, but the captivation of vaginal odour that is intended to “stimulate the one who wears it”. Erm, we’ll pass, thanks.
I hate perfume, by Christopher Brosius: In the Library and CB BEAST
Christopher Brosius has made a name for himself with his collection of odd fragrances, such as In the Library. Inspired by his love of reading, it is a warm blend of English Novel, Russian & Moroccan leather bindings, worn cloth and wood polish. Another peculiar one is CB BEAST. Comprised of roast beef, parsley, herbs, black pepper spices and tobacco absolute, he says he created it for a friend who wanted a smell that had absolutely nothing to do with perfume.
Fresh: Cannabis Santal Eau de Parfum
Because, ya know, who doesn’t want to smell like a stoner? With a heart of cannabis against vanilla, chocolate and black plum, it’s a pretty intoxicating scent. Our suggestion: spray it, don’t inhale it.
Would you try any of these out-there perfumes?
