Beauty resolutions you’ll actually stick to

New year resolution ideas can be tricky to come up with. Even if you’re the biggest beauty junkie, you can make your new year beauty goals and resolutions too hard to achieve, get disheartened and then give up altogether. So we’re keeping it real in 2020. We’re not committing to overhauling that overflowing beauty cupboard, instead we’re choosing realistic (read: easy) resolutions.

#1 Stop rubbing your perfumed wrists together
For some crazy reason, we were all taught to rub our perfumed wrists together, but it isn’t doing us any favours. Rubbing your wrists together breaks up the scent instead of letting it gradually evaporate. Since finding this out, I have (slowly) trained myself to stop. So it can be done! Your wrists may have a mind of their own and start inching towards each other, but eventually you’ll get used to pausing for the moment after you spray. And if you think about it, it’s less effort than rubbing them together...so I believe in you, beauties!

#2 Wear SPF everyday

We all know it’s a crime not to prime, but it is equally criminal to skip on SPF. Cloudy out? Doesn’t matter. Don’t want to smell like you’re at the beach? Doesn’t matter. You need to protect that precious skin! You can easily slip it into your beauty routine by using a primer or moisturiser with a high SPF rating.

#3 Purchase a silk pillowcase
Want to up your beauty game in 2018? If the idea of changing your current regimens is too daunting, invest in one simple shortcut: a silk pillowcase. Silk is great for your skin and hair. After buying the pillowcase, all you have to do for this resolution is to sleep and bam – new year goal achieved.

#4 Clean your makeup brushes...more

I’ll admit, I’m terrible at cleaning my makeup brushes. I know how bad that is. So much bacteria can build up, but when the time rolls around it’s always the last thing I feel like doing. So I’m going to suggest that we just clean them more. I do have hope for myself (and others) given that there are some much less tedious tactics around to clean them now. With products like the Manicare Cosmetic Brush Cleaner and StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner (www.shavershop.com.au) available, I have faith that we’ll clean them more than we currently do.

I'm proud I actually knew all of these. I didn't always, when I was young I used to rub my wrists together with perfume. Oops.

Having lived in Africa and now Perth and having fair skin I really HAVE to use a good SPF daily. And even though I do that I still had to have a small skin cancer removed from the side of my nose.
