Fragrance advice for teenagers

Everyone’s teenage years are awkward. And of all the hormonal horror that happens to you as a teenager, bad body odour has to be the worst. Obviously, good hygiene and deodorant are of the utmost importance, but if my high shool memories serve me correctly, we also need to discuss how to use fragrance properly. Check out our fragrance tips for teens below...

#1: Body spray doesn’t cancel out body odour
I remember heading into class after PE and being choked by the amount of body spray and BO crammed into one room. So if there is only one lesson that teenagers can learn about fragrance, it has to be that you can’t beat body odour with a fragrance. We all get it, no one wants to stank up the classroom after cross country. But it doesn’t work that way. Body sprays come before you smell, not after. A wet-wipe and reapply of roll-on is the way to go in the changerooms.
beautyheaven loves Garnier's Cool Invisi Deodorant and Rexona Teens Beauty Roll On.
#2: Don’t overdo it
Who else was doused from head to toe in Impulse body spray as a teenager? Because more was always better, right? Oh no. No, no, no. In your teenage years you’re self conscious but trust me, you don’t need that much. By all means use a body spray (beautyheaven loves the So…? Eternal Body Fragrance and Zoella Sweet Inspirations Fragranced Body Mist) but just remember: moderation is key.
#3: You don’t have to spend big
When it comes to a new perfume, chances are, you’re pulling together some pocket money, spending a bit of your Macca's paycheck or having your parents shout you. So even if the coolest girl in school is talking up some trendy, luxe scent, you don’t have to be out of pocket. There are plenty of affordable fragrances around that smell great and will last you a while:
Good options for gals
1. Chi Chi Peach & Mango Eau De Parfum ($19.95)
2. Innoxa Gingham EDT ($30)
Good options for guys
1. Natio for Men Fresh EDT ($19.95)
2. The Body Shop Arber Eau De Toilette ($33)

I no longer purchase body sprays or perfume. I am just using up what I have left. I have recently switched over to natural deodorant and it's doing a great job. If you use a body spray or perfume you definitely still need to use some kind of deodorant in addition to it!

The first point in this article is so true! Body spray is uniquely one of those things that teenagers use and love and I certainly did! Taste in perfume takes time to develop...or maybe our tastes change too!

OMG the body spray thing brings back memories. We all thought that using Impulse stopped us from stinking. We were wrong, so wrong. But those things were all the rage in the 90’s. Ahhh memories...

I'm always buying perfumes for my teenaged granddaughters. No problem buying them gifts, I loved fragrances when I was a teen and my mother was kept poor with my tastes (not cheap Ones then, but that changed when I got married!!!)

Great advice, especially #1! (It's not just teens who need to be told this!)
I like Chi Chi & So...? fragrances. Chi Chi Sugar & Spice is divine, so is So...? Kiss Me.

Oh my gosh, I remember the old Impulse at school, I think every second person had one in their backpack. And I so remember those girls who used to spray it in their hair.

I had Impulse, Australis and Evoke and Evoke was my favourite. I think my favourite Evoke one was called Bewitched and there was another one with a name along the line of midnight musk which I really liked.
My mum always taught us about deoderant first then fragrance so I didn't have an issue with that. In my later teen years girls in my year level all of a sudden developed a liking for Lynx and though some used it properly in the morning others would spray it on in the afternoon just like they used to spray on Impulse and OMG I could not breathe!

I was very lucky and always had a collection of perfumes as my Mum worked in a pharmacy so she would give me all the goodies that the Sales Reps gave her which was lucky because I never would have been able to buy things like that at all.
