Male grooming tips: how to smell great in summer

It's sweltering. It's steamy. And it’s scorching. But that’s certainly no reason for you to be stinky, though. Ditch the less than appealing male aromas often associated with a sizzling summer by following these handy hygiene tips…
HOW TO MINIMISE YOUR MAN PONG IN SUMMER
Tip #1: shower at least once a day
And if you're extra stinky, or you've been extra active, make it twice. Other than being an essential part of basic hygiene, odour-producing bacteria will build-up on your skin if you don't, and the result won't be – or smell – pretty.
Tip #2: make use of a masculine body wash
Humans are heavily influenced by smell, so why not make your shower-time that much more pleasurable by lathering up with a manly-scented gel? You'll find yourself more inclined to use it if you do, and the fragrance will linger on your skin for hours.
Try: Molton Brown Sport 4-in-1 Sportswash or GAIA Made for Men Face & Body Wash.
Tip #3: wash your hair every week
Dudes can get away with never washing their hair, right? Wrong. Water alone won't completely rid your scalp of product build-up, sweat and bacteria, so give your 'do a good cleansing every seven days and enjoy the freshly-scented strands that follow.
Try: Kiehl’s Cross-Terrain All-In-One Hair & Body Refueling Wash or TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe Men Deep Clean Shampoo.
Tip #4: apply anti-perspirant deodorant at night
Sweat production is at its lowest in the evening, so get the active ingredients in your anti-perspirant to work at night when they have a higher chance of blocking sweat production in preparation for the next day. Feel free to reapply in the AM for extra-freshness, but don't be concerned about washing away its effectiveness in the shower – the key ingredients will have already penetrated into your skin.
Try: NIVEA Men Stress Protect Roll On or Lab Series Antiperspirant Deodorant Stick.
Tip #5: don't overdo it with the scent
Squirt them once, squirt them twice, but please don't go overboard with the body sprays and colognes. Yes, they should make you smell exceptional in theory, but apply too much and the result is almost as offensive as not washing for a week. Almost.
Try: Lynx Deodorant Bodyspray in Africa or Aramis The Gentleman’s Collection - Aramis Life.
If you’re a woman, does your man get extra stinky in summer? If you’re a man, do you find it hard to stay smelling fresh during the warmer months? If so, will you be utilising these tips from now on?

I found a good anti perspirant not just a body spray, helps to eliminate man pong. Teenagers and young men seem to have their own smelly smell at times.

My partner recently started using expensive aftershaves - not just Lynx (yuk). Best move he's made. Makes him 100% more attractive : )

Great tips, I didn't know to apply deodorant at night, I might start doing that too! I don't like all the heavy man scents in all the man products though

My husband follows most of those tips but no way will he use deodorant at night. He hates it when I do!

Pretty much basic hygiene I think. I hope that most men would follow these guidelines.

My hubby always smells great, except his breath sometimes when he hasn't had enough to drink. Perhaps that's for another article.

I agree with these tips, especially overdoing the scent. It is quite overpowering ...

Totally disagree with applying anti perspirant at night...sweating is a normal function that you should allow your body to do!
