6 hard-working mums share the 3 products they can’t live without

You know what mums don’t have time for? Bullsh*t.

So whose beauty bags would be better to have a sneak peek into?

We asked six mums to share the three products they can’t live without, whether it’s an amazing mutli-tasker or just something that makes them feel flippin’ fantastic, and the answers were (unsurprisingly) quality.

RELATED: These are Australia’s top 10 favourite mascaras

Alicia, mum of one

  1. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in ‘Rose’:  “This gives me a quick shimmer and highlight over my foundation, which makes me feel like my skin is glowing, even when I’m  tired and haven’t slept due to having a child’s foot in my face half the night.”
  2. Blessed by Nature Antioxidant Daily Renewal Cream: “I love that this product natural, absorbs into my skin quickly and smells fantastic.”
  3. L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara ($19.95 at Chemist Warehouse):  “Kim Kardashian was right… this is the BEST mascara. It always sets quickly and leaves my eyelashes looking great when I’m in a hurry. “

Dragana, mum of four

  1. Benefit Cheekleaders Pink Squad Palette: ” This my bronzer, eyes and cheeks all in one. Can’t live without it. It’s adds a touch of glamour to my day with all the rose shimmer.”
  2. Lanolips Tinted Lip Balm SPF30: :This is always in my handbag. I use it on its own to give my lips a nice natural glossy look or over my favourite red lippy for a good day to night look.”
  3. Chanel Le Volume De Chanel Mascara ($56, myer.com.au): “I love this mascara as it was purchased by my 11-year-old for my birthday. Every mum needs a touch of chanel in her makeup routine she tells me.”

Rachel, mum of one

  1. IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better™ CC+™ Cream SPF 50: “This product is my Holy Grail! It makes my skin glow and gives me great, lasting coverage. It basically brings life to my face and resurrects me from the dead every single morning – an absolute essential!”
  2. Avène Thermal Spring Water: “This is my daily beauty pick-me-up. I reach for it throughout the day and like an afternoon coffee, a quick spritz of this mist is instantly refreshing; it does wonders.”
  3. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Fiery ($34, mecca.com.au): “There is definitely something empowering about red lipstick and this shade and formula is my favourite; the one I feel suits my complexion the best. It is basically the lipstick I think of when I see the quote ‘Give a woman the right lipstick and she can conquer the world’ – the type of confidence boost a working mama needs sometimes!”

Annabel, mum of one

  1. La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra Light SPF50+ : “I suffered from bad melasma and pigmentation when I had my daughter, so I’m obsessed with sun protection now. I’ve been through A LOT of products trying to find ‘the one’ and I now never leave the house without this. It’s not too greasy, sinks in fast, has a high SPF and makeup sits perfectly on top of it.”
  2. MAC Eyelash Curler ($37, maccosmetics.com.au): “I inherited short, straight Asian lashes from my mum so I love my eyelash curler. Even if the only thing I have time to do in the morning rush before daycare drop-off/work is a quick curl and a lick of mascara, I find it gives me that extra little boost of confidence and helps me feel ready to face the world.”
  3. Olaplex Hair Perfector ($50, sephora.com.au): “My hair changed completely after having a child, no longer the easy-to-style, poker straight hair I was used to. This small bottle of wonder has saved me, restoring my hair to its shiny, manageable self. It only takes 10-15 minutes once a week so is actually achievable, even for a busy mum!”

Tamara, mum of two

  1. Manicare erase-IT! Makeup Remover: “These makeup remover pads are my number one staple. Not only do they cut wastage in half because I no longer have the need to use cotton pads or face wipes, but I have been able to reduce the number of products that I use on my face as well because these pads remove most makeup with water alone; and when I have stubborn eyeliner or mascara I use them with my face cleanser.”
  2. Dermaveen Daily Nourish Soap Free Wash: “I have extremely dry skin that is also sensitive and with two little ones that have eczema and skin allergies, the only thing we use in our bath and showers at home is the Dermaveen Body Wash. It is soap-free, and doesn’t irritate my skin like most other washes can. Best of all the kids use it too because it is so gentle and also soothing to their skin when they have breakouts of eczema.”
  3. M.A.C Powder Blush: “No matter how tired I look or how long the week has been, the M.A.C Powder Blush always gives my face a pick-me-up with a touch of colour. Even when I don’t have a full face of makeup, a little touch of this blush gives me a bit of colour and makes me look fresh.”

Fiona, mum of three

  1. Clarins Beauty Flash Balm: “It’s a primer, it’s a brightener, it’s a tightener. And when I have time I spread it on thickly, leave for 15 minutes, and use as a revival mask. I use it every day – on top of moisturiser and serum and under BB cream or light foundation. Addicted.”
  2. Rita Hazan Root Concealer ($35, sephora.com.au): “A total lifesaver between colouring so I always look like a natural blonde with no grey at all.”
  3. Nude by Nature Highlight Palette:  “Highlighter, blush, eye shadow, all-round glow-maker, with a fabulous shimmer and glitter.”

  1. YES to the Lanolips tinted Balm – I’m a mum of two too, and its the quickest, easiest way to add a bit of colour when rushing out and about, plus it has SPF factor AND I find it also helps when I have chapped lips. Actually everything I have tried in the Lanolips range is perfect – their mint flavoured 101 balm is great for really badly chapped, red, sore lips. I have also tried the IT Cosmetics CC cream, I wanted to love it, but I found their lightest colour was still too dark/orange for my skin tone 🙁
