nappy rash

My 16 month old developed a rash 2 days ago where the elastic of her nappy rubs on her inner thighs and it won’t respond to curash nappy rash cream ( my prefered choice of nappy rash treatment).

Any tips what to do or use to get rid of the rash.

Thanks

I went through this with my son about 2 months ago, when he was 17 months, when i decided to give aldi nappies a go. Dont know whether it was a co-incidence or what but he got nappy rash so badly that his bottom was raw and bled – though, like your son, it didnt seem to bother him. I went to the pharmacist and they said to persist with the sudocream, and to also use an antifungal cream 3 times a day (use sudo for any other nappy change), as open wounds in that area very quickly get infected. I’m pretty sure i used canestine but will double check for you tomorrow – the tube is in my sons room. I also had to bath him twice a day in a bath with pinetarsol added. He loved it so much that I ended up keeping that up for 2 weeks – i would stick him in the bath when i had my shower so it was pretty hard to get him out of the habbit – as soon as he could tell i was getting ready for my shower he would run to the bath and start bouncing and squeeling in anticipation!

His open sore had closed within 2 days and it took about a week for the redness to subside.

Bubz has always been in huggies but she occasionally got bad nappy rash from teeth coming thro so poss. just timing???

He had finished teething by 13 months (apart from the very back molars) and this was about 3 or 4 months after that so it wasn’t teething. Might have been something he ate but I couldn’t pin it down to anything. Could have just been random. I usually used babylove during the day then huggies at night and this was the first time i ever tried aldi. who knows!! babies are a mystery!!

Poor bubz :(…. best stick to what u know maybe!!! hubby says not to risk other brands we can afford huggies and best keeps bubz happy!

I just checked the packet and it’s canestan and she said to put bepanthen over the top with each nappy change. I soo hope it works. I have to bath both my kiddies in the moogoo milkwash as it’s the only thing that doesn’t irritate their skin (after a few washes using avado and gaia both got rashes, weird) Damn sensitive skin..
@ Beautystar, that’s soo cute of your little man, mine does that too when he knows it’s bath time 🙂
    Finger’s crossed it works now!
Thanks again for all the help, I always know I can get great advice here 🙂

Thanks girls, he’ll be 18months on moday so not really a baby, but I still call him my little baby (should probably stop that lol). I’ve just come back from the pharmacist and like Missteaaddict said she thinks he may be sensitive to the products in the gaia cream. She gave me a cream to try as she thinks it may have turned into a fungal infection now, but when it clears I will definately be looking into the moogoo one (love moogoo).
That egg trick sounds good, but my little man doesn’t stay still so would end up with egg white everywhere LOL, great suggestion though Gorjus 🙂

    Goodluck with the treatment :D.

I have a 21month old and I still call her bubz and stuff :D, she is still my baby! coming to the terrible twos tho I see it coming all the time!!!

Def….some one was talking about the natural paw paw ointment from priceline here awhile ago so they do stock it…. but I dont know if it is just organic stuff that burns them more cos the mei mei stuff is organic and it hurt bubz for awhile too putting it on so maybe grab a small tube of lucas aswell just as a back up i would.

I think that organic nappy balms might gives these kids of rashes if the baby is allergic to an ingredient in it. Also, remember that babies are sensitive to essential oils and that’s usually a large part of natural products. That’s why Moogoo doesn’t use essential oils. They have a nappy balm that might be worth trying.

Will check out the natural paw paw one, my mum suggested the lucas brand but I don’t like the ingredients so didn’t get it. I just can’t believe what the gaia product did to him, it’s natural and burnt him 🙁 Poor little guy, luckily he’s a tough one!
Do you think priceline would stock it? (as it’s the closest pharmacy to me)
