#1 General maintenance is a must

Brushing her teeth and hair, scrubbing the vegemite off her face and washing her hair every three days are all jobs she should learn to do herself. No buts!

#3 Haircuts have to happen

#6 …But moisturiser is mandatory
The first skin care product I ever owned was a daily moisturiser – predominantly to counteract the skin dryness that came with swimming lessons. If she’s worried about pimples, help her choose one that’s oil-free and/or formulated for acne-prone skin. Bonus points if it has SPF!

#7 Mascara is magnificent
