The 8 products Zoë Foster Blake’s makeup artist used for her 90s inspired glam

Aussie beauty icon, Zoë Foster Blake, is currently in New York doing press for her brand Gro-To Skincare. And while she’s been abroad she’s been giving us some beauty inspiration we can’t wait to try out. 

One which really stands out (because it looks so easy to achieve) is a matte, neutral look she posted to her Instagram stories. She asked her New York-based makeup artist, Maria Riskakis, for “90s matte browns. No lashes, no shimmer”. 

Maria gave us the inside scoop on all the products she used to create this simple yet elegant masterpiece, so we too can achieve this fresh, beautiful, 90s vibe.

Skin prep: Go-To skincare, of course. The classic Zoe-glow is achieved by cleansing with Properly Clean, massaging in a few drops of Face Hero oil, popping on a Transformazing Sheet Mask (for about 20 minutes) and finishing off with a dollop of Very Useful Face Cream. This leaves her with a hydrated, illuminated base perfect for makeup. (gotoskincare.com/collections/face).  

Foundation: Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation ($65, charlottetilbury.com).  With skin like Zoë’s, it would be a crime to wear a full-coverage foundation. This foundation used by Maria gives a sheer, flawless finish. While the formula is illuminating, it doesn’t have an OTT shimmer, just a subtle, airbrushed glow. 

Concealer: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (mecca.com.au). This concealer is a cult favourite for a reason, it gives a luminous finish and has long-lasting and crease-proof coverage – perfect for a big day of meetings. 

Bronzer: Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Bronzer ($97, charlottetilbury.com). This palette has a bronzer and a highlighter, but Maria only used the bronzer on Zoë’s cheekbones for a sunkissed glow. This gives her some subtle definition without looking stark.

Cream blush: Charlotte Tilbury Beachstick ($55, charlottetilbury.com). Zoë has talked of her love of cream blushes before, saying that they ‘help you look more lively and awake’, while also not looking ageing the skin, as some powder blushes can do.  

Powder Blush: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush. While this look has stayed away from shimmer for the most part, the ultra-glow, light-reflective powder makes Zoë’s skin look even more radiant than usual. 

Eyes: Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Portobello ($54, mecca.com.au). This matte-powder duo was used on Zoë’s eyes with a light hand for a natural fill-in. The brown shades make her green eyes pop, while looking keeping in theme with the ‘neutral’ brief. 

Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade ($33, sephora.com.au). Using a light hand, Maria used the long-lasting brow pomade to fill in Zoë’s brows.   

Lipstick: Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Pillow Talk ($49, charlottetilbury.com). Beloved by Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham and Miranda Kerr, this lipstick is a celeb makeup bag staple. The shade gave Zoë’s lips a nude, matte and natural finish that modernises the 90s brown matte lipstick trend.
