We review: Summer staples

Summer is finally here and we’re all looking forward to plenty of long, sunny days spent at the beach. But all of that time in the sun can take its toll on your skin, leaving you feeling dry, dehydrated and potentially burnt!

This month, we reviewed four beauty products that will soon become your summer staples. From the scrub that’ll keep your hands feeling smooth and hydrated, to the water resistant lip balm with SPF, the caplets that will leave your looking skin clearer than ever, and the spicy-scented candle that’s perfect for all that post-beach down time.

Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater & Pink Peppercorn Hand Recovery Scrub

bh’s Kristy says:

“If you’re concerned about how your hands are ageing, then you need to start using the Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater & Pink Peppercorn Hydrating Hand Recovery. An exfoliating hand treatment, the actual beads are quite big and don’t feel rough on your skin at all. I massaged it in like I would hand cream, and washed it off. My hands felt quite smooth and hydrated, I’d even go as far as saying dewy. But what I loved about this product the most was the alluring scent. From application to post washing it off, the scent was apparent but not overwhelming at all.”

SkinB5 Acne Control Caplets

bh’s Kate says:

“I’ve always dealt with acne, but about six months ago it started to get more intense. Rather than just the occasional pimple, I started to get a crazy amount of hormonal breakouts on my neck, chin and jawline. Although these breakouts weren’t related to my skin care regimen, I knew that I needed to overhaul my routine to help clear the breakouts and try to stop more from forming. It was recommended that I try a skin supplement to help fight the breakouts, so I started taking the SkinB5 Acne Control Caplets three times per day (with my breakfast, lunch and dinner). The caplets contain vitamin B5 and other natural ingredients to help to control the skin’s oil production and balance hormones, which is something my body really needed. It took about six weeks for me to notice my skin begin to clear, but it was worth the wait – my skin is almost completely clear and these caplets have definitely been a great help. I would definitely recommend these to anyone dealing with acne who is looking to take their skin care up a notch.”

Burt’s Bees All-Weather SPF 15 Lip Balm

bh’s Sophie says:

“Sun protection is so important in summer, but it’s easy to forget about SPF for our lips. So when the Burt’s Bees All-Weather SPF 15 Lip Balm landed on my desk, I couldn’t wait to try it out! This hydrating lip balm is formulated with zinc oxide which is a physical, mineral-based sunscreen to reflect UV rays. It also contains beeswax, meadowfoam oil, cocoa seed butter and olive fruit oil – making it really nourishing and an absolute pleasure to re-apply throughout the day. It offers broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and is water-resistant for up to 40 minutes. This is a must for your beach bag this summer!”

Circa Home 1969 Narcissus & Patchouli Classic Candle

bh’s Rosie says:

“I love burning a beautiful, spicy-scented candle like this Circa Home 1969 Narcissus & Patchouli Classic Candle at this time of year. It’s spicy notes and hints of cardamom, bergamot and musk keep the fragrance clean, fresh and warm. I’ve been burning it in my living room for the past couple of weeks and I’m so surprised at how far it manages to throw the fragrance! Another bonus is that once I finish the candle, I can recycle the jar to hold jewellery or use it as a vase, and it will look gorgeous.”
