Urban myth or trusty fact: you should never ‘pump’ the mascara wand in and out of the tube.
According to beautyheaven expert Cassandra Rae Ferguson it’s very much a trusty fact. The action could spell death for your favourite mascara.
As she explains: “True, this isn’t recommended. Doing so pushes air into the tube, hence drying out the mascara and increasing the risk of bacteria getting in. A more effective way of getting mascara onto the brush, is turning the wand inside the tube, and then gently pulling it out.”
Also not advisable…
Sharing (not because we condone being mean) but because mascara is “a breeding ground for bacteria” don’t you know. Which is why adding water to mascara isn’t wise either. Kind of gross but very useful info to have under your belt.
