TikTok’s Transfer-Proof Lip Liner Hack Is Genius

Gen Z has a wild way of disrupting everything we think we know about beauty. So if you thought eyebrow tints were only meant for your brows, they’re here to prove you wrong.

And that’s just what they’ve done. It turns out that you can use an eyebrow tint as a lip liner — and the results are pretty impressive.

The trend was started by TikTok user @Sacheu, who has long been a fan of using eyeliner to line her lips as it’s the perfect shade of nude for her look. That is until she discovered the Maybelline Tattoo Brow Gel Tint ($15.99 at Chemist Warehouse), which has since become her new go-to for perfectly lined lips.

How to pull off the lip liner hack

The process is simple: apply a thin line of the tint to the edge of your lips as you would a normal lip liner. Leave to set for 3 minutes before you peel it off. Once the ink is in place, take a makeup wipe or a cotton round dampened with micellar water and gently wipe the skin around your lips to remove any excess product.

Sacheu finishes the process with a nude lipgloss for “the perfect nude lip that’s not going to rub off”. This hack is the ultimate way to attain the ’90s-inspired dark liner, light lipstick look that actually stays in place. We recommend going in with a darker nude or brown-toned lipstick if you prefer a more natural look.

The challenge may come when you want to remove the product or the application process goes wrong (which, if you’ve ever tried to perfect your lip liner or a winged eye, you would know). You’ll need a whole lot of cleansing products on hand ’cause tints are meant to be long-wearing!

Our suggestion? Master the technique with a normal lip pencil or brush before going in with the brow tint.

Are you brave enough to give this trend a go?!

  1. Love the makeup look in the main imagine however this isn’t something I’m brave enough to try. I’d probably stuff it up and be stuck with the tint stain around my mouth for a few days and end up having to put my mask back on to cover it up 🤣

  2. Where on earth do some of these ideas come from? Products designed for specific areas should be used for those area and not elsewhere – in my opinion.

Tik Tok isn’t something I trust.

  3. Could’ve used a cleansing oil… Micellar waters only pick up dirt. I’m not following trends. Cue eye roll. Stuff that cannot be washed off easily: absolute pass. Not cute beyond your 20’s to be attempting these “trends”. We’re older and importantly, wiser.
