The bare essentials

The bare essentials

If you picked up my everyday handbag, you’d swear I had my gym kit in there, and maybe the 4 Twilight book too (just by the sheer weight of it). I tend to cart around masses of make-up and things that I ‘might need’ later on – like a spare phone, and another outfit (in case I do a spot of rock-climbing later, you know).

So for me to get to the gym this morning at sparrow’s (6am to be precise) and realise I’ve left pretty much my whole beauty kit at home, was beyond a little daunting.

In what I would call a truly desperate time, here’s what I came up with…

I ruffled through my bag for some sort of primer. My UV Triplegard Everyday SPF 15 from my trip to the beach on the weekend was still there. Score. Face primed, protected (bonus!) and ready to go.

Now, I’m normally a little pink-faced at the best of times, but after an hour long workout and a hot shower, it’s even worse. I knew I needed some foundation, stat. I rustled through my bag and came across a few teeny MAC sample pots my make-up artist bestie had thrown to me – I knew I kept carting them around for a reason!

Next were the eyes – not so lucky in that department. I used my tub of Vaseline (that never leaves this bag) to gloss over my lashes for an instant mascara-like effect, and then brushed some over my brows to darken them and keep them in place.

For my lips – well I always have 20-odd lip products in there anyway, so I just chose my favourite pink (essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss in I Like Cotton Candy)and applied a little to my lips and the apples of my cheeks too. The gloss made me look luminous, which was an added bonus!

Not too shabby eh?
