Return to Stepford

Return to Stepford

I say it took a few days to come to terms with the lovin’ because, if I’m honest, I felt slightly at odds with myself for liking a look sported by beautiful blissful women/robots who take domestic goddessness to the extreme. I imagined if I channelled Scarlett, Joanna or any of the other Stepfords that people would somehow be able to sense that I’ve left dirty dishes in the sink and holler fraud at me as I shimmied through the Sydney streets (perhaps even throw an old orange or two).

But then I remembered that beauty is fun; not to be taken too seriously and definitely not to be turned into a robotic task. So I shall take up Scarlett’s throne with these key looks:

Curls – big on the Stepford circuit. Use the handy 4-in-1 VS Sassoon Waves and Curls Salon Styler to create free flowing loose curls, tight angelic ringlets, or glamorous old Hollywood-style waves – you choose.

Blush – also big on the Stepford circuit. Bourjois Vintage Collection Blush Pot is my favourite: pretty, practical (what – blush is a very sensible staple) and perfumed.

Finish with a line of Australis Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner, a slick of Bloom Liquid Lipstick in Daphne (a soft, creamy satin pink) and pop some Proactiv® Solution Oil Blotter Sheets in your bag – us Stepfords don’t do shine.

Scarlett – better as a blonde bombshell or are you liking her darker side?
