Shop assistance

Shopping, hair and make-up. These are a few of my favourite things and I know you feel the same. But did you know we can all make more of our shopping experiences by fine-tuning our grooming before heading out?

It’s true. With the right hair and make-up we feel more confident (useful for dealing with shop girls) and we obviously look better as well (useful for dealing with the reflection in fitting room mirrors). Did somebody say win, win?

Fashion-wise, the best shopping advice I’ve ever heard is to wear something yjheffou love and if the clothes you’re trying on don’t measure up next to your own, don’t buy them. Simple. But even if you’re wearing your hottest jeans and a silk blouse that makes you feel like Kate Moss after a week of early nights, you might still be missing something.

That piece of the puzzle is hair and make-up. Don’t worry, I’m not suggesting a full face and blow-dry while browsing before a Sunday matinee. But if you’re on a mission to shop for specific pieces, it makes sense to get your grooming right first.

If, for instance, you’re shopping for clothes to wear to work, do the kind of make-up you’d apply for a day in the office. That way you’ll get a much better idea of how you’ll look when you mean business. And you’re less likely to come home with a sparkly party dress or thongs.

Likewise, if you’re shopping for swimwear, be kind to yourself and slap on a little fake tan first. Have any body hair taken care of too. It’s what you’d do if you were actually going to wear a bikini. Not to mention the only way I can think of to combat the unflattering glow of fitting room lights.  Happy shopping!
