Like the belted trench, a knockout LBD and patent stilettos, red lipstick is beyond classic. Best worn with very little other make-up as Hayden Panettiere proves, it’s also easy to perfect. Let the bh guide show you how.
First, ensure your lips are in great condition. Try a kiss-worthy conditioner such as Carmex® Lip Balm Jar or MAC Prep and Prime Lip. If winter has taken its toll, you can exfoliate first for a smoother pout. Mary Kay Satin Lips Lip Mask is easy to use but you can use your toothbrush. Gently, of course.
A lip brush is hands-down the best way to apply lipstick from a tube. Manicare Lip Brush and Bloom Aluminium Lip Brush are both ideal for the job. Load the brush up and use the flat side to paint the upper outline starting at the cupid’s bow. Fill in the rest of the top lip. Repeat the line-and-fill process for the bottom lip.
Now you’ve applied your colour, try an invisible liner to lock it in and prevent feathering. Sally Hansen Invisible Lip Liner works a treat. At this stage you might like to add a second coat of lipstick for greater intensity or a dab of gloss. Smile, you’re good to go!
