Keen to consider the most popular beauty product of all time? Us too. That’s why we set about accosting Sydney girls on the street the other week to ask what products they simply couldn’t live without. But then we opened up the debate to beautyheaven members and such a wide variety of brands and products were being bandied about that it seemed it would be an impossible task to ever truly know.
Until, that is, beautyheaven quizzed those on the inside. We caught up with the beauty boffins at Priceline and David Jones to talk hot products and hot predictions. After all, who better to comment on the situation than those who see the products flying off the shelves?

Bargain beauty

The skin and saving savvy have been shopping at Priceline for years thanks to its great offers on mid price point skincare and cosmetics, but what tops the list at the Mecca of beauty addicts?

Skincare

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Day – designed specifically for women with mature skin, this re-hydrating and firming cream contains the L’Oréal-patented Dermo-peptide, which helps to retain moisture, stimulate cellular renewal and prevent loss of elasticity. All that for just $29.95? Hardly surprising it’s popular!

Cosmetics

L’Oreal True Match Minerals – this foundation combines high coverage with a weightless feel and the flawless finish of a powder. Yep, it’s a keeper! And the fact that it’s suitable for sensitive and intolerant skin (it contains aloe and vitamin B5 to soothe, nurture and condition) is definitely a factor in its popularity.

Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara – currently this mascara is leading the great lash race, no doubt thanks to its high-tech IFX brush that works to evenly coat every individual lash. The result? A defined, clump-free, striking flutter.

Haircare

Organix Coconut Milk Shampoo & Conditioner – these really are just like a trip to Aruba in a bottle. The luxuriously creamy and hydrating formula contains organic coconut milk to nourish hair while ultra whipped egg white proteins offer hydration and balance.

Batiste Blush Dry Shampoo – we had a sneaking suspicion this might be in the top sellers list. Do we know something you don’t? No, just that it’s amazing! (And that we’ve all purchased many a can from Priceline!) The light floral formula with notes of red hibiscus, orange and pretty peonies penetrates the hair shaft absorbing dirt and grease, making it a handbag and desk drawer essential.

Priceline predictions:

If anyone has the clout to be making predictions about possible bestsellers, it’s Priceline. Here, they share with beautyheaven, what they think the big news of 2009 will be…

Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream – the hype around this product has been huge and when you consider it whipped a $300 anti-ageing cream’s ass in a blind trial in the US, it’s easy to see why. We’ve tried it. We love it. Buy it.

Max Factor Natural Minerals Foundation – this mineral-rich foundation uses calcium silicate, iron oxides and a mica blend for coverage that is lightweight and non-drying. The packaging includes a 100 per cent natural, tapered brush, which will put paid to powder stained make-up bags, that’s a beautyheaven thumbs up right there.

Rimmel London Sexy Curves Mascara – promising up to 70 per cent curvier lashes and still giving you change from $20, it’s little wonder Priceline is predicting big things for the latest Rimmel London offering. The innovative Triple Plump Brush maximizes lash loading of the collagen-enriched formula. Curvy’s never been so sexy.
