The ever-gorgeous Nigella Lawson recently posed for Vogue magazine in the UK and she decided to go make-up free for her shoot.
Okay, so admittedly it wasn’t really how you or I would define ‘make-up free’, but it was close enough. According to the mag, Nigella did wear some blush and a little mascara. And there was a “little airbrushing” done for the cover – which is usually what Vogue does for that shot.
Below is the cover next to a picture of what Nigella looks like with a whole lot more make-up on:
She looks incredibly radiant and fresh-faced for a woman her age (she just turned 54 this year) on the Vogue cover – even more so than when she’s wearing a full face of make-up, don’t you think?
Which begs the question – when you get a little older, is less more? Are you better off sporting a look that’s a little more au naturel to help your skin look more youthful?
We all know that heavy foundation can settle into fine lines and wrinkles, and that over-powdering can do the same. But maybe a lighter, more natural look is the way to go for more mature skin?
Here are a few images of celebrities – all over 50 – wearing one more natural make-up look, and one that looks a little heavier.
JULIANNE MOORE
HELEN MIRREN
SUSAN SARANDON
TÉA LEONI
While they all look beautiful in both, lighter coverage and more neutral tones do seem to make these celebrities look a little more youthful and radiant. What do you think?
Do you think that lighter make-up makes these celebrities look younger? Which of the above looks do you prefer?
