Three bizarre beauty trends revealed

At beautyheaven, we love to experiment with weird and wonderful beauty trends. Some are stranger the others, but these are the ones that got us talking this week.

The bleached brow

Following in the wake of Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, Katy Perry debuted this contentious look on Instagram last week. Otherwise known as ‘the invisible brow’, we find it a bit severe to say the least. For those who are game however, there are two ways this trend can be worn: by bleaching the brow to white, making it a stand-alone feature on the face, or bleaching it to a soft yellow, to erase the appearance of a brow all together. Note: it’s probably best to see a professional for this one!

Floating eyeliner

Seen in the extreme on the Anthony Vaccarello runway, this art-inspired make-up look challenges everything you know about how to apply eyeliner – aka, along the lash line. Even more bizarre than the look itself, make-up Artist Tom Pecheux used a novel application method, pressing the contrasting pigment to the models’ eyes using unwaxed dental floss! While the make-up maverick’s bold rendition is probably not one we’ll be trying any time soon, we like the idea of eyeliner applied a subtler margin above the lash line.

Eyebrow extensions

Ever since Cara Delevigne came on to the scene with her trademark bushy set, it’s fair to say the beauty industry’s become somewhat obsessed with big brows! Want to get the look but lacking the volume required? Eyebrow extensions may be the way to go. A new innovation tested recently by bh’s Carly, the process involves individual synthetic hairs being added one by one to fill in any gaps, or just add general thickness to your brows.  With the treatment only taking around 30 minutes, we think it’s one of the best new beauty innovations around.

Which bizarre beauty trend would you most like to try? What other unusual beauty looks have you experimented with?
