Mum’s the word: crazy cleansing

Mum’s the word: crazy cleansing

We all cleanse our face – and I don’t mean the disciplined cleanse-tone-moisturise routine, I just mean that we all wash our face (hopefully at least once a day, preferably twice!). But right now I’m not talking about facial cleansing, I’m referring to colon cleansing…

A few years back I recall a friend Facebooking me to tell me that her mums group had clubbed together for her birthday to buy her a voucher for – wait for it – a colon cleanse. I remember thinking, ‘if I were you I’d change my circle of friends – quick sharp’. Surprisingly though, she was excited about the prospect of a cleansed colon. I know that being a mum she didn’t get out much, but this was taking things too far.

She went on to explain that it was all the rage and celebrities couldn’t get enough of it. I still wasn’t convinced and no, this isn’t one of those stories where I go on to say that eventually I tried this crazy fad and found enlightenment – as well as a clean colon. No, I’m simply sharing my views that colon cleansing is not necessary (it can actually cause more harm than good) and yes, there are many things in life that are unnecessary but we choose to do them all the same – like tinting your eyelashes – but this is not one of them, and I recommend you leave well alone.

However, I am an advocate of tinted lashes and I’m currently sporting 1000 Hour Eyelash & Brow Dye in Blue/Black. A great little time-saving technique for mums on the go – no more time spent mastering your mascara application technique.
