The most-reviewed brow tint on bh (and how to use it)

With products launching left, right and centre in 2021, it’s rare to come across one that’s not only been around for years, but continues to be discovered and loved by beauty aficionados alike.

The 1000HOUR Lash & Brow Dye Kit is not only the most reviewed brow tint on beautyheaven, but it’s been the number one lash and brow dye kit for over 25 years.

Its popularity is showing no signs of slowing down either. In 2020, 1.2 kits were sold every minute — that’s over eight million lashes and/or brows tinted in one year alone!

Based on the 300+ reviews on beautyheaven, the reason this DIY product is so beloved is because of its long-lasting results and easy at-home application, which rivals that of in-salon brow and lash tints.

“I have been using this dye kit at home for years and I find it gives a great, long-lasting result and means I don’t feel I need to use mascara so often,” wrote bh member CrystalCupcake.

In fact, the brand name 1000HOUR is because the tint lasts for up to six weeks (AKA 1000 hours). Clever huh?

If you’ve never used a DIY tint before but like the sound of it, you’ll be pleased to know the 1000HOUR kit also comes with detailed instructions for impressive results from the get-go.

“The instructions are great and easy to understand,” wrote bh member philippa495.

“Quick and easy to apply and doesn’t stain your skin,” concurred bh member Chloe_Fady.

Here’s just how easy the 1000HOUR Lash & Brow Kits are to use

Step 1. Select your shade  — choose from Light Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, Blue Black, Brown-Black and Natural Black. If you’re a natural beauty nut, there’s a new gentle plant extract formula available in each shade too. If it’s your first time with either formula, it’s recommended to complete a patch test.

Step 2. If you’re tinting your brows, prep and safeguard the surrounding skin with Vaseline or an emollient skin care product. If tinting your eyelashes, use the under eye guards found in the kits.

Step 3. Mix together the colour cream and liquid colour developer as per the instructions  — if you ever lose them, you can download them from the 1000HOUR website!

Step 4. Apply the tint to your lashes or brows using the applicator wand or spoolie found in the kit (a spoolie is similar to a mascara wand and applies the same way making it super easy).

Step 5. Leave for 10 minutes and then wipe away the tint with a damp cotton pad.

bh top tip: Depending on how often you cleanse, your tint will last up to six weeks. In between, we’d recommend using the 1000HOUR Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum to promote natural growth and strengthen your lash and brow hair for extra fullness.

  1. Have never ever used a Lash and Brow Tint will check out the 1000HOUR Lash & Brow Dye Kit glad that it gets such a good review. At the moment I am using a light brown pomade which isn’t permanent, but it lasts all day.

  2. I’ve heard about this product in some of the Forum threads but had never really looked into it. Thanks for this article BH. I don’t have a problem with my lashes, but my brows are almost non-existent (fortunately my fringe is a good disguise). Not sure if this product would work on sparse brows, but it’s worth a try.

  3. Never used it as my brows don’t need tinting, but definitely it is very popular! Lashes, I just use mascara. If tinted, this will not hold them curled up and tidy (naturally mine go down and zig-zag everywhere, very messy and are light).

  4. Have been using this 1000 Hour Lash & Brow Dye, Dark Brown for a while and love it, but only on my eye brows. Have read some of the reviews and pleased for the product the great reviews it deserves. Give it a try Beauties if you dye your brows.

  5. This is one trend I don’t have to do anything at all and it looks like I am following the trend. My eyebrows have always been full, never plucked and dark brown. Not a grey hair in sight, yet I have them on my head. My daughter does the brow darkening thing.

  6. I’ve been using it for the past 20 years. I use it most often as a brow Tint and it is So Easy I cannot imagine paying a salon for it again.
I’ve used it on Lashes, and also on Lashes after doing at home lash perming and it always works amazingly.
I really can’t recommend it more highly.

  7. Definitely prefer 1000HOUR over Eyelure which I got to trial and gave 1 star eeek sorry I’m honest. Have been using 1000HOUR for YEARS and it’s definitely much stronger and has way more different shades other than just “dark brown”.

  8. I’ve been using this on my brows for years (I don’t trust myself to put it any closer to my eyeballs than that so I just use mascara for my lashes). It’s great and I wouldn’t be without it. It took me a while to get up the courage to use it but really it’s incredibly easy to do.

  9. My eyebrows are really pale and using a pencil or anything ideal for brow tinting is terrible for me so I have resorted to using an eye shadow which works really well for me.

  10. I have used this product but the result I want only lasts a few days. I was hoping that the skin underneath my brow would stain as well. I still use it when I get a stray grey eyebrow.

  11. I’ve been using 1000 Hours now about 12 months. Sure wish I’d known about it years ago. I’m 71 and in ‘my day’ we plucked our eyebrows VERY thin. So very sad about that now but 1000 Hours helps. I use it on my brows and lashes.
