Matching foundation

Matching foundation

Foundation is a tricky little thing, but sadly, for most of us, it’s an essential part of the make-up routine as we endeavour to hide blemishes, uneven skin tone and the like.
Given this, we called up Rae Morris, bh’s go-to-girl for make-up woes, for a little advice on matching foundation. Morris said:

“Never match foundation on your jaw line as most people think, it’s important to match foundation to your chest area.” The reason for this, Morris explains is, “your body is the same colour as your face whereas your neck is the palest part of your body,” hence you’re going to get a better match if you stick to your chest area.

Also, if you’re a fake tanner, Morris warns to make sure you have two or three varieties of foundation available so that you can adjust your shade to match. It sounds simple but you’d be surprised by how many people don’t go a few shades darker to match their newly-bronzed tone.

Bh’s foundation picks:

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Foundation – this has ultra-resistant pigments that provide optimal coverage and even out skin tone. The pigments are resistant to perspiration and sebum so foundation stays put.

BECCA Stick Foundation – this non-powdery formulation is suitable for even ultra-sensitive skin. It provides sheer to medium, natural-looking coverage with the added benefit of SPF 30+.

Dermalogica Treatment Foundation – this lightweight, oil-free, water-based liquid make-up provides flawless coverage while moisturising and protecting the skin. It provides excellent coverage that can be adjusted from sheer to concealing.
