Pat McGrath worked her magic at Dolce & Gabbana (I’m ignoring the gloves-cum-headbands) creating a devastatingly decadant look of berry lips, demure base and full n’ flirty lashes. To perfect a flawless 40s flick I turn to my new love: gel eyeliner. Quite how I survived without it for so long is beyond me. So if you too are a fan of the wonder wing (which I know lots of you are), I urge you to indulge.
Elizabeth Arden Mediterranean Breeze Color Intrigue Gel Eyeliner with Brush – this easy-gliding liner applies smoothly and can be used lightly for a subtle look or built up for some added drama. My pick is Black Pearl.
MAC Fluidline – this longwearing, smudge-proof eyeliner comes in 13 shades. Its “foolproof” formula requires a quick dip-and-stroke action. Blacktrack is very YSL-chic but I like Iris Eyes for a merging of trends this autumn.
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner – this multi-award winner is Bobbi Brown’s best-selling product globally. It offers the precision of a liquid liner and the ease of a gel-based formula. A tip from the lady herself: “Don’t leave space between the eyeliner and the lash line. If, after application, there is a small space, fill it in with the same shade of powdered eye shadow.” (For more handy hints like this pick up a copy of Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual.)
Don’t forget Clinique Eye Liner Brush – the small, blunt-angled brush allows exact control of line placement and width. Clinique’s unique, long-lasting antibacterial technology helps ensure a high level of hygiene for germaphobes also.
