6 time-saving make-up products

I’m all for shortcuts.

I get a shellac manicure to avoid having to wait for my nails to dry. I use shower gel when shaving my legs. And dry shampoo is – of course – my favourite thing ever.

But what about make-up? How do I shave minutes off my morning ‘dolling up’ routine? I have a few tricks up my sleeve…

#1 Pick a base with SPF

It doesn’t matter if you prefer tinted moisturiser, BB cream or foundation, just make sure it’s loaded with SPF. That way you can skip a step in your skin care routine and not worry about damaging your skin. I like Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35. I apply it right after cleansing and find it keeps my skin hydrated, flawless and protected all day long.

#2 Take advantage of multi-purpose products

Why buy a product that does just one thing, when you can buy something that does three?! Multi-purpose products are a busy (or just plain lazy) girl’s best friend. You can’t go wrong with Nars The Multiple, $56. It can be used to provide all-over colour or accentuate the eyes, cheeks, lips and body. #winning

#3 Use nude liner everywhere

Nude coloured eyeliner is my secret weapon. When used on the inner corner of the eyes, it helps to open up tired eyes (and hide the signs of a late night). I also like to use it along my brow bone, down the bridge of my nose and even to line my cupid’s bow. This eliminates the need for an illuminator or highlighter, and saves the time normally spent fiddling around with several different products!

#4 Always choose pens

It’s true – good things come in pens. Forgo liquid or cream eyeliner for a super easy-to-use eyeliner pen. I recommend essence 2 in 1 Eyeliner Pen as it has two sides: one with a thin tip and one with a thick, slanted tip for creating a range of looks.

#5 Coat lashes in mascara

Not just any mascara, but one that lifts, curls and volumises each and every lash. Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Curl Mascara is perfect as the formula builds longer lashes, while the brush fans lashes for a wide-eyed look. No eyelash curler required!

#6 Take it off with ease

When it’s time for the ‘face’ to come off, cleansing wipes are the quickest and easiest make-up removal method. I keep a packet of QV Face Cleansing Wipes in my bathroom, one by my bed and another in my handbag, so if I’m feeling lazy, rushed or never quite made it home, I’m prepared. Always.
