Get out of your makeup rut
There are some nasty things that you can call a girl, and ‘outfit repeater’ has to be somewhere in the top five. So what about a ‘beauty repeater’? It’s so easy to repeat the same beauty look for months on end, especially when there’s a favourite lippy or simple but effective hair-do involved. If you’ve found yourself in a makeup rut lately here are a few simple ways you can freshen up your look:
If you…CAN’T STOP THE TOP KNOT
The good news is that buns are still in. The bad news is you’ve gotten so robotic with doing them on the top of your head that it’s become your go-to on a night out or even just for the gym. To liven up your hair-do, try placing your bun at the nape of your neck. You can do it sleek and neat for work, or loose and messy for the weekends. If you’re looking for even more of a change, simply add a side-swept fringe.
If you…LOVE WINGED EYELINER
Can’t help but flick when you reach the end of your lid? No problem! Simply trade in your traditional black eyeliner for a coloured one. This way you’ll be able to keep the definition and style you love with a seemingly whole new look. Cobalt blue and aqua liner in particular will see the compliments come flooding in.
If you…CONSTANTLY ROCK THE RED LIP
This is a hard rut to get out of because simply put, red lipstick makes us look damn good. But there is such a thing as overkill, especially when every other girl out on a Saturday night is rocking it just as hard. While there are still a few warm days left in the transition to winter, try swapping your red for a coral or tangerine colour. Later in the month as you start dragging out your scarves and boots, try popping some plum on your pout for a more dramatic change. And if you simply can’t stay away from the red family, a shade of merlot can be the exception.
If you…LIKE TO LOOK NATURAL
If you’re a girl who likes to let your natural beauty shine through – don’t worry. There are ways that you can update your beauty look without the need for bright colours or over-the-top features. And you’re not just limited to foundation and mascara either. In a nutshell, nudes, beiges and bronzes have just become your three best friends. Try highlighting your eyes with a bronze shadow and finish off with a few coats of mascara. Or if you’re feeling a bit more daring, look for a nude lippy or gloss that has a pinkish tinge to it and is essentially the colour of your lips, only bolder. Accentuating your natural features using different shades and tones is what you should be aiming for.
