Double eyeliner is the new makeup trend that’ll elevate your eye game

Winged eyeliner is a classic beauty look that those with a steady hand will always return to (and the rest of us will continue to practice) til the end of time.

And the good thing about a timeless trend, is that it’s always open to reinvention.

The latest way to wear your wings? Double eyeliner.

As brands such a NYX and Fenty release liquid liners in a range of vivid colours; neon greens, yellows and hot pinks are becoming commonplace on our peepers.  But rather than ditch the definition a jet-black cat eye undeniably creates in favour of bold new colours, the clever ones among us are simply using both.

The trend begins with your classic black flick, which is then bordered by a bright colour. Sometimes it traces it entirely, other times just a section or two. Either way, one thing is certain: It looks damn punchy.

Here’s our top tips for working this two-toned trend:

1. Allow time for your black eyeliner to dry down.

Tracing so closely  to your flick is just smudges waiting to happen, so if time allows, wait a few minutes between one liner and the next.

2. Try eyeliner stickers.

This makes tracing your cate eye SO easy (and smudge-free). Simply stick them on, and then trace with your colour of choice. Most formulas will only adhere to your skin and not the sticker, making mistakes easily disguisable.

3.  Use colours you already have

If you want to try the trend without forking out for a coloured liquid eyeliner, try using any similar coloured products you already have. Liquid or cream eyeshadows. lip liner and other workable textures will glide on just as well with the aid of an eyeliner brush to keep it precise.

4. It doesn’t have to be neon

While bright colours definitely make the most impact, tracing with something more subtle like a rose-gold, violet or metallic silver can also look stunning.
