Blake Lively’s makeup artist on her beauty evolution
Blake Lively turned 31 this week! And to celebrate we’re taking a look back at her beauty evolution.
Blake Lively was thrown into the spotlight at just 17-years-old because of her role in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. And thanks to six years as the lead on Gossip Girl, a string of blockbuster movies, and her marriage to Ryan Reynolds, Blake has become a permanent fixture in the spotlight. And after all those years of appearances and red carpets, we have rarely seen her put a foot wrong...

Kristofer Buckle is Blake’s longtime makeup artist and if you don’t know him, you should. (He has worked with everyone from Liza Minnelli, to Cher, Jennifer Lopez and the Kardashians.) In particular though, he has worked with Blake since her very first magazine cover. He recently opened up to Refinery29 about their working relationship and how Blake’s makeup tastes have changed over the years.
"I met Blake very early in her career, way back before The Traveling Pants series. I was doing her makeup for her first magazine cover, for CosmoGirl,” Kristofer told Refinery29. “I remember she was so nervous, and she said to me: 'I don't know what to do out there, I'm not a model!' So, I told her to look at me while she was shooting, and I stood behind the photographer, working model-like poses, and she just copied me. We bonded over that moment, and we've worked together since. It's been one of my favourite client relationships, because I've watched Blake grow over the past decade. And as some young celebrities change and transform not always for the best, Blake has maintained every bit of her personality. She's the same girl I met all those years ago. Her essence, her generosity, her levity, it's all the same. She's just this kind, conscientious person through and through — but her makeup leanings have changed a bit."
