Beauty tricks to learn from our favourite Brazilian muses
If you’ve switched on a TV, opened a newspaper or logged onto Facebook (or have had a male living in your house who is addicted to soccer) in the last week, then you’ll know that the FIFA World Cup is currently in progress.
And while all eyes may be on Brazil right now because of it, we’d like it to be known that we’ve been keen on the country for years.
Oh, not because of the soccer team or the players or anything sports-related. No, we’ve been taken with the South American country because that’s where some of the world’s hottest models hail from. Yep, we can thank Brazil for the likes of Gisele Bundchen and her equally hot buddies Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima.
So we thought that, in the spirit of the Brazilian World Cup, we’d celebrate our favourite Brazilian beauty muses and the beauty tricks they’ve taught us.
Has inspired us to: try a little flick
Alessandra is often spotted sporting a teeny-tiny flick at the outer corner of her eyes. It's kind of like a baby winged eyeliner that works a treat to open up your eyes without being too heavy or being the focus of your make-up look.
Quick tips to achieve Alessandra’s eyeliner flick:
Use a creamy gel liner like L’Oreal Paris SuperLiner Gel Liner to create the flick first, then line the rest of your lash line. Start at the tip of the flick and draw the line down towards your lash line. It’s also a good idea to make sure that when you draw the line on your lid, it should be thinner on the inner corner and a touch thicker on the outer corner.
Has inspired us to: try and create tousled, wavy, I-just-got-out-of-bed hair
There isn’t a girl out there who hasn’t attempted to create Gisele’s textured, unstructured waves. It’s the hairstyle that every woman imagines herself sporting once she’s spent a day at the beach and has probably toiled for hours at home with a curling wand trying to achieve.
Quick tips to achieve Gisele’s hair:
Spritz some sea salt spray, like ELEVEN Sea Salt Spray, into damp hair and dry with your hair dryer. Then, take a medium-barreled curling wand and start curling your hair in sections. Once done, leave your hair to cool down, then brush through with your fingers.
Has inspired us to: contour our cheekbones
Would you take a look at those cheekbones? They’re heavenly! And because we weren’t all genetically blessed with such a wonderful bone structure, we’ve all had to try our hand at contouring and highlighting to fake those kinds of angles.
Quick tips to achieve Adriana’s cheekbones:
Your best bet is to get your hands on a highlighting and contouring kit, like the Face of Australia Glamazon Contour & Highlight Kit. Lightly dust the lighter, iridescent shade on the entire length of your cheekbones. Then, using the matte bronze shade, apply the powder from about the middle of your ear down to the corner of your mouth. Make sure the powder isn’t too heavy by your mouth – there should only be a hint of colour.
Which of these looks have you tried to recreate? Which one of these Brazilian supermodels is your favourite?
