10 times Disney movies lied to us about beauty

Don’t get me wrong, I luuuuuuuurve Disney movies. I could probably still sing the words to every song from Pocahontas and 100 per cent wanted to be a mermaid from ages eight to 10 (to the point where I refused to leave swimming pools).

But as I’ve grown older, some scenes within these films have caught my attention (and no I’m not talking about the sexual innuendo jokes they put in there for adults), I’m talking about the unrealistic ways in which beauty is portrayed.
I’m more than happy to believe in fairies, but I’m not falling for any of these. Here are ten times Disney movies lied to us about beauty.
#1 Despite the wind blowing Pocahontas’ hair absolutely everywhere it remains completely knot-free

While the rest of us are dousing our strands in De Lorenzo Infinite Detangler and reaching into our handbags for the Lady Jayne Tangleze.
#2 When Ariel brushes her hair with a fork

That is just a recipe for split ends Ariel.
#3 And lived under the sea with vibrant red hair
tumblr.com
Even if that red hair was natural, all that salt water would surely cause fading, not to mention dryness. And I doubt she’d have any Pureology Reviving Red Shamp'Oil down there.

#4 When Sleeping Beauty showed zero signs of drooling
www.teen.com
Or smudged mascara - doesn’t she know it’s a skin care sin to sleep with make-up on?
#5 When Cinderella tied her hair in a ponytail using nothing but a ribbon
blogs.disney.com
There’s no way hair that thick would hold up without a Gliders Tubes Ponytail Holder.
#6 When Jasmine placed a hood over her head and her hair didn’t flatten one bit
tumblr.com
While the rest of us have to carry around PPS Root Lift.
#7 And don’t get us started on how it held up during that carpet ride
tumblr.com
That girl must have had at least 10 coats of TRESemmé Freeze Hold Hairspray.
#8 As if cutting your hair off with a sword is that easy Mulan
giphy.com
At least not without having some jagged edges and uneven lengths.
#9 And there’s no way red lipstick can be applied so swiftly
giphy.com
Although Ulta3 Moisturising Lipstick does glides on pretty smoothly.

#10 Also, please tell us what magic make-up remover you had up your sleeve?
giphy.com
Because unless it was soaked in micellar water, there’s no way you could have taken all of that off in one swipe. Us mere mortals usually have to use Rosehip by essano Gentle Cleansing Facial Wipes to take it off that quick.
Do you remember any other unrealistic beauty scenes from movies? What’s your favourite Disney film?

Great read! Looking forward to seeing Aladdin the Musical in August. The Disney princesses were always so unattainable but the one I most related to was Belle maybe because my favourite colour is yellow and I am a brunette = bias choice haha

These comments are all so true when you look into them. But I think it all comes down to the plausible impossible that Walt Disney was always talking about many years ago.
