Runway to reality: Chanel beauty

Q: “I recently saw the Chanel's pre-fall catwalk and fell in love with the models' hair. Big, done-yet-undone, textural, classy and with the pretty accessories - stunning, right? But the full beehive is a bit OTT for daytime so I was wondering if bh had some tips for adapting this style for everyday use?” - Prittykitty
A: It’s not just the clothes from Chanel that we covet – we’re head-over-heels in lurve with the gorgeous hair and make-up showcased at its Paris-Byzance Metiers d'Art runway show.
“This look is all about light & texture. The combination of gold, bronze, black and red can be easily adapted to suit every woman’s preference,” said Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Makeup.
But, as Prittykitty pointed out, this look may be a tad OTT for everyday wear, so we thought we’d give you a few tips and tricks to help you tone it down and incorporate it into your everyday look:
Make-up
- Dust your eyelids with a gold, peach or bronze shadow that contains a subtle shimmer, taking the colour around the inner corners of your eyes to really illuminate them.
- Use a black liquid eyeliner to create a ‘winged’ effect along your top lash line (click here for the perfect winged eyeliner how-to).
- For a more dramatic effect, wing the outer corner of your lower lash line too, blending the line to a finish at the inner corner of your eye (rather than flicking it out towards your nose as in the picture).
Hair
1.) Apply a volumising mousse through your hair to give it some extra body and movement, before tipping your head upside-down and sweeping your tresses into a high ponytail.
2.) Loosely twist your hair around the base of your ponytail to form messy top-knot, and secure in place with bobby pins.
3.) To finish the look, carefully place a headband or scarf around your head, allowing some tendrils to fall loosely around your face.
What do you think of this look? Would you sport the more toned-down version?

Absolutely gorgeous! But I think my hair is too thin for it to work, even though it is long, too thin :(

I love this hair do, personally I'd tone down the make-up. I really love loose buns and hair bands at the moment.
