What’s in my makeup bag: Tracey Jewel
In case you didn’t watch the latest season of Married At First Sight (trust me, you seriously missed out), Tracey Jewel was one half of one of the most controversial couples in the series. And after giving Dean Wells a shot, things didn’t quite work out. But despite the drama, Tracey held her own and came out of the series with a new man and a new book that’s launching in June.
We spoke to Tracey to discover her everyday beauty routine, her favourite products, and how she got herself TV ready for Married At First Sight.
What are five beauty products that you can’t live without?
My Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer – especially with TV makeup it’s a must for not clogging the pores!
Antidote Essentials WASH Activated Charcoal cleanser – gets rid of every ounce of makeup without being abrasive on my skin and helps get all the impurities out. It’s my skin detox.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light is a winner for contouring every time.
Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup is lightweight and great for everyday wear.
Nerium IllumaBoost serum gives my skin that extra radiance.
What beauty products do you always carry with you in your handbag?
I always seem to suffer from dry lips (hence my lip licking on MAFS!) so I always carry Napoleon Perdis Pout protect lip balm and a nice bright Napoleon Perdis Dévine Goddess Lipstick! It’s always good to have my Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder on hand too, as well as a hand cream – I can't go past Antidote Essentials Hand Remedy!
What’s your everyday beauty routine?
I start and end everyday with my Antidote Essentials WASH Activated Charcoal cleanser and a good serum like Nerium’s IllumaBoost. I do love my Nerium Age-Defying Eye Serum or the Napoleon Perdis Tone Inject Eye Serum and always wear my Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer before doing my makeup for the day.
If I’m having a night in, which is rare these days unfortunately, I love the Antidote Essentials FACE Green Clay Mask. My skin always feels and looks so fresh the next day! If I’ve been travelling a lot, using the Nerium Eye-V Moisture Boost Hydrogel Patches under my eyes works wonders!
Do you have a go-to everyday makeup routine?
For my go-to everyday makeup look, I don’t wear a lot of makeup unless I’m doing a photo shoot or on TV, so I opt for a light foundation like Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup and then colour it up with some Napoleon Perdis Total Bae - Tone It Bronzer and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. I keep my eyes pretty neutral, and with eyelash extensions I don’t need a lot of mascara, but when I do I use the Kevyn Aucoin Volume Mascara. It’s like a tube so it doesn’t club the extensions!
If I need my makeup to last, my go-to is Napoleon Perdis Boudoir Mist Spray Foundation. It really sets and lasts all day and night! And if I want to look tanned I go a shade darker – look 3 all the way!
What are your top three makeup products of all time?
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder
Napoleon Perdis Boudoir Mist Spray Foundation
The whole spectrum of Napoleon Perdis Dévine Goddess Lipsticks – for every mood!
Did you change your makeup routine for TV when you were filming MAFS?
To begin with I put a lot of effort into looking as good as I could, but after a few weeks of filming all-day every day, I had to let some things slide.
I wore heavier makeup for the long shooting days for the dinner parties and commitment ceremonies and used a Mecca Cosmetica All Set Makeup Perfecting Mist. I tried to not wear too much makeup on the other filming days.
Does your beauty routine change when you’re really busy?
Yes! I opt for neutral tones and a lip gloss rather then using eyeliners and lip liners and heavier eyes and lips.
Do you have any time-saving makeup hacks?
I have this nifty Napoleon Perdis palette that triples as a lipstick, eyeshadow and illuminator all in one product. Score!
How do you take care of your skin to keep it looking so flawless?
I always always wash my makeup off at the end of every day and always use primer before applying makeup.
What’s the best beauty treatment that you’ve ever tried?
With travelling and not much sleep sometimes I can’t go past a good eye serum and under eye patches - they work every time especially when you feel your eyes are so tired you can’t bear the thought of putting eye makeup and mascara on!
What’s your favourite way to style your hair on an average morning?
I love wearing my hair down unless I’m in the gym, so I always blow dry my hair upside down in the morning so it has that just washed look.
