What’s in my makeup bag: Jadé Tunchy

Jadé Tunchy’s Instagram account @jadetunchy already had a substantial Instagram following of over 200K, but the social media star wanted to show the real story behind the ‘glamorous’ life of an influencer. So she started another account, @therealjadetunchy, which shows what her life looks like, sans filter. It’s real. It’s hilarious. And it’s definitely worth a follow.

Since she’s known for telling it like it is, we spoke to Jadé to find out what her beauty routine really looks like.

What are the 5 beauty products that you can’t live without?

  1. Rosehip oil! I use Trilogy at the moment.
  2. Johnsons face wipes! I use the pink packet. I’ve been using the same ones for years.
  3. I’m obsessed with a good nude lip – I’m using Tarte ‘Colour Smash Lipstick’ at the moment in the shade ‘Colada’
  4. Also can’t go past a good red lip! Currently using Fenty Beauty ‘Stunna’ liquid lipstick. The formula is incredible and the shade is even better!
  5. A hair tie! I don’t think people would even think to say this because it’s become such a necessity but I seriously don’t go a day without tying my hair up at least 20 times.

What beauty products do you always carry with you in your handbag?

Everything I just mentioned above minus the face wipes! I also carry around a hair brush everywhere I go. I also carry around Carmex for chapped lips!

Describe your everyday makeup routine?

I try not to wear makeup whenever i can! I’ll just wake up, rinse my face and put some rosehip oil on.

When I need to wear makeup I prime, use a little concealer under my eyes and on any spots, put foundation on, use a little powder on extra shiny bits, use blush, bronzer and highlighter, brush my eyebrows and apply mascara and a little lip colour/carmex!

How does your makeup routine change between your @jadetunchy Instagram vs. your @therealjadetunchy Instagram?

Haha It really depends. I don’t go out of my way to take my makeup off to film videos or take photos for my real account. I just start filming or taking pics as I am. However I wouldn’t do the same on my main account!

Does your beauty routine change when you’re really busy?

Definitely! When I’m in a rush I don’t bother with eyeshadow or eyeliner. I won’t even do my hair properly. I find it’s too fiddly and don’t enjoy doing it at all. I wish I had a hair and makeup artist on call!

Do you have any time-saving makeup hacks?

If you’re really desperate to get out of the house, use foundation on parts of your face that absolutely need it, pop some blush on and mascara and you’re done!  I’ve also started using a palm foundation brush. I blend my whole face in seconds. I have no idea what I used to do without it!

How do you take care of your skin to keep it looking so flawless?

I really don’t do much for my skin. I think I’m quite lucky in that it’s normally relatively clear. The pimples I get are hormonal and stick around for about a month though, which is annoying. But I don’t worry about them too much. Everyone gets spots! I’m not sure why we make such a big deal out of it!

What’s the best beauty treatment that you’ve ever tried?

Is rosehip oil a treatment? Hahah. I know it’s the biggest no-no for skin, but I find a little bit of sun and the right oil makes me glow!

What’s your favourite way to style your hair on an average morning?

I just got bangs because I’m so lazy with my hair and felt like it needed a “style” for when I’m not bothered to do anything to it. My hair is naturally really straight so I’ll just leave it out naturally or tie it up with my bangs out. I like a ponytail/bun for quick, cute looks!

What did you think of Jade Tunchy’s beauty routine? Have you tried any of these products?
