1. Line the lips with a matching lip liner.
2. Fill in the lips with lipstick.

Sam, the crimson lipstick looks fantastic on you! It's also a shade that I often wear myself.

Great tips. I am getting more and more used to bold lips and it does not look bad at all. Today I have a bright red lipstick on.

It's always been said you can't wear bold lips with bold eyemakeup but I reckon you can do both, for me what really makes it "too much" is a really contoured, over the top face makeup.

I agree with you! I think that you can have bold eye makeup and a bold/bright lipstick, as long as the cheeks are not overdone with contouring, highlighter, blush etc.

Great tips. Using a lip liner stops the lipstick from bleeding into those small lines around your mouth.

That's my go to! My sister also adds a light layer of powder over the top to seal things in place.

I normally don't bother with lip liner/shading my lips in. Most days I just apply lippy and blot.

I don't wear lipstick but this is exactly how I would do it! EXCEPT I would also apply a base of makeup as I believe that makes it last longer too (like a primer for lips) :)

I also colour my lips in with my liner. I find that extends the life of the lip colour.

I don't wear bold lipsticks often but I'm trying to wear them more frequently. I find that lipstick sits better with a lip liner. I have heard about the finger in your mouth to remove excess lipstick but I never do it.

What a lovely lip colour! I love a bold lip, I just wish my lips were a bit bigger but I reckon I am brave enough anyway. I love reds and raspberry colours, sometimes I use a lip liner but I prefer lipsticks that can be worn without them like Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet! Probably my favourite lipstick of all times!

The 'finger in mouth' is a good secret, but hard to do in the presence of anyone else and still look dignified lol!
