How to start a natural beauty routine

Considering incorporating some natural products into your beauty routine but not quite sure how to start? Some of our members have started by swapping out a few of their regular make-up and skin care products for natural options from Burt’s Bees, and they’ve given us the lowdown on whether these products will be taking pride of place in their routines. Check out their reviews below…

A hydrating cleansing oil: Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Facial Cleansing Oil

We say:
This cleansing oil is a facial cleanser enriched with coconut and argan oils that work to gently dissolve dirt, impurities and make-up without stripping the skin’s natural protective barriers or leaving an oily residue to reveal a soft, smooth and hydrated complexion.

You say:
“I love that Burt’s Bees products are so natural and this one is no exception. This cleansing oil is housed in a 6 oz [177mL] plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. I simply applied this to my dry skin, massaged all over, added water and rinsed thoroughly. In the mornings I used this alone but occasionally at night I would simply follow up with a toner if I had heavy make-up on.” bh member, beautylicious

“I absolutely love this cleansing oil as it can be used every day without drying my face. I definitely recommend it for people who are looking for [a] natural cleanser without harmful chemicals.” bh member, Sina

Fact: 92 per cent of members said they would recommend this cleansing oil to family and friends*.

A firming and concealing BB cream: Burt’s Bees BB Cream with Noni Extract SPF 15

We say:
This lightweight BB cream is formulated to firm, conceal, smooth and brighten the skin. It helps to even out skin tone and visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As well as being 98.9 per cent natural, it also provides SPF 15 protection and is available in two shades: Light/Medium and Medium.

You say:
“After I cleansed, toned and moisturised, I applied a little bigger than a pea-size amount of Burt’s Bees BB Cream with Noni Extract SPF 15 to my whole face and a little down my neck. The colour was great for my skin and made it look like it had a natural glow to it! It looked so radiant and healthy. I have a few freckles and it toned them down a little making my skin look naturally flawless. I love it!” bh member, Natalie123

“The result after wearing this BB cream for a few weeks – zero irritation. Not one breakout! No clogged pores. No drying effect. On application (I use fingers), this BB cream blends easily, leaving no streaks. The formula is hydrating, so I feel I have no need to use rich moisturiser when using this BB cream. Coverage is light, and just perfect enough to make my complexion glow and even things out. I have melasma (blotchy face pigmentation), and this BB cream makes my face look so good that I do not [need to] use anything to ‘hide’ it.” bh member, Yohanna

Fact: 74 per cent of members said they would recommend this BB cream to family and friends*.

A full-coverage lip crayon: Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lip Crayon

We say:
Enriched with 100 per cent natural ingredients, including shea butter, jojoba oil and kendi oil, this lip crayon collection delivers full-coverage creamy, matte colour with a moisturising finish and is available in six shades.

You say:
“It comes in a simple twist-top product, which looks like a crayon itself and makes it very easy to use. It is made with 100 per cent natural ingredients, including shea butter, jojoba oil and kendi oil. This formula leaves your lips feeling incredibly moisturised and soft; it is lightweight and doesn’t feel like you have loads of lipstick on.” bh member, southcoastclare

“I love how this lip balm applied to my lips – super easy and smooth. Another reason I love this is unlike most lip balm you constantly need to apply [it] to feel like it’s doing something to your lips. [With] this lip balm you can go quite some time without having to apply again, which is great! [It’s also] great for your pocket as you won’t need to keep repurchasing so often.” bh member, Kaneo112

Fact: 76 per cent of members said they would purchase this lip crayon after trialling it*.

A moisturising lipstick: Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lipstick

We say:
Go bold with Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lipstick – its rich formula contains beeswax, moringa oil and raspberry seed oil to soften and condition the lips and it’s available in 14 wearable shades.

You say:
“The application of the lipstick was very smooth and moisturising, and provided a satin finish to the lips. The 100% Natural Lipstick claims to ‘hydrate and moisturise lips leaving them feeling soft and smooth’, which it definitely achieved. My lips did not feel dry, nor did they become flaky upon application.” bh member, akira

“I haven’t stopped using this since I got it! I trialled 501 Blush Basin and it’s my perfect nude! The formula is creamy and feels so hydrating on the lips. It has a soft satin finish that is beautiful with a smoky eye. It’s easy to apply as it glides on with ease. I really loved how this lipstick feels on my lips. It didn’t bleed into any fine lines, my lips looked plump and hydrated. The only negative I found with this (and it’s a tiny one) was the longevity – but having said that I didn’t mind as I very much enjoyed applying this lipstick throughout the day.” bh member, Revecca V MUA

Fact: 86 per cent of members said they would recommend this lipstick to family and friends*.
