How-to: Allison Williams' red lip look

I love Allison Williams. And I’m not afraid to admit it. The Girls star is strikingly beautiful. But that tends to happen when you’ve been blessed with ice-blue eyes, fresh, radiant skin and glossy hair. But besides that, she hardly puts a foot wrong when it comes to her hair and make-up looks. Seriously, show me an ugly, disheveled or questionable Alison Williams, and I’ll scratch her off my ‘girl crushes of 2014’ list immediately.
This is how she rocked up to the DVF Journey of a Dress 40th Anniversary Party. Pretty amazing, right? The look is simple and understated, but is pure perfection for an evening look. Plus, if you’ve ever wondered what to do with the rest of your face when you want to wear a red lip, this is it.
Here’s how you can recreate Alison’s look in the comfort of your own home, sans make-up artist.
Step one:
Apply a mattifying foundation on your skin. It’ll help absorb any excess oil and reduce shine, so your skin will look velvety smooth.
Try: Maybelline New York Dream Matte Mousse.
Step two:
Apply some illuminating concealer under your eyes. This will help conceal any circles while brightening the area. Apply the concealer in a ‘V’ shape, ensuring that the product is applied on your cheekbone. Then blend the concealer up under your eyes.
Try: jane iredale Active Light Concealer.
Step three:
To make your lashes look thicker and more luscious, line your top lash (at the root of your lashes) with a bold black liner.
Try: Clarins Instant Liner, $48, 02 9663 4277.
Step four:
Apply two to three coats of a lengthening and thickening mascara to your top lashes. Start at the root of your lashes and wiggle the wand as your brush up. This will help separate your lashes. Apply just one coat on your bottom lashes.
Try: Benefit They’re Real Mascara.
Step five:
Using a silver kohl liner, apply the teeniest, tiniest amount under your bottom lash line, focusing on the inner corner. This will help brighten your eyes.
Try: Rimmel London ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Silver.
Step six:
For a subtle rosy glow, apply a pink blush onto the apples of your cheek and under your cheekbones. Try a blush with a hint of shimmer for a radiant finish.
Try: Mirenesse Marble Mineral Blush Face Powder in Paros Pink.
Step seven:
Finish off your look with a longwearing red lipstick. If your skin has pink undertones, opt for a vibrant blue-based shade, and if your complexion has more yellow undertones, go for a more orange-y red.
Try: Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in Door Red Door.
Extra step:
Make sure your brows are groomed to perfection. Brush them into shape with a spoolie and pluck away any rogue hairs.
Try: glo minerals Spooli brush and 1000 Hour Eye Essentials Precision Eyebrow Tweezer.

nice but her hair makes the look a lot less siren and alot more 50s house wife... which is probably the look she was going for anyway but I feel like removing the pin would have totally changed her look... for the better!

Dream matte mousse hasn't been a favourite of mine. But the concealer is amazing. I think it is discontinued as I haven't seen it around since 2008. I wish they would bring it back!
