Match your lipstick to your outfit

My sister sent me a text the other day asking if she was “allowed” to wear red lipstick with a red dress. I immediately thought of Rihanna at the 2013 Grammy Awards and couldn’t write back “yes!” fast enough. Then I started thinking about other fashion and lipstick combos that are absolute winners…
Wear:
Yellow
Apply:
Red or berry. bh recommends Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fire & Ice (red) & Avon Over Nature Lipstick in Orchid Fantasy (berry).
Top tip:
This look works particularly on fair-skinned beauties. Blondes look stunning with a red lip, while redheads and brunettes should opt for luscious berry shades.
Wear:
Black and white
Apply:
Red. bh recommends Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 107 (for cool tones) and ModelCo Party Proof Matte Lipstick in After Hours (for warm tones).
Top tip:
This classic colour match works on all skin tones and hair colours – just use a blue-based red if you’re cool-toned or an orange-based red if you’re warm-toned.
Wear:
Orange
Apply:
Coral. bh recommends L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Made-For-Me Intense in Magnetic Coral and The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in Coral Cutie.
Top tip:
For a more subtle pout, go for a coral lippie with pink undertones and a sheer finish. You don’t have to wear an all-orange outfit either; white with orange accessories will also make heads turn.
Wear:
Green
Apply:
Pink. bh recommends Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick in Flamenco & The Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons in Cupcake.
Top tip:
If you have dark hair, opt for a bold pink lippie. If you have fair hair, you can get away with a sheer, light pink pout.
Wear:
Royal blue
Apply:
Nude. bh recommends Maybelline Color Sensational Stripped Nudes (Tantalizing Taupe is a favourite!).
Top tip:
This is a must-try for those with blue eyes. Keep eye make-up to a minimum to make those peepers stand out even more.

I usually wear pinky nude kind of colours, but I have got a few different colours in my collection. I tend to choose depending on what make up I’m wearing and/or what clothes I’m wearing. If in doubt, I stick to my favourite pinky nude colour.

Love corals and orange. I use coral in place of a nude lip colour and it looks brighter and fresh.

I am all for orange and coral! I like to wear my orangey/red dress with my warm coral (orangey) lippy. Perfection. Very fiery and sexy , but youthful and even sophisticated...saying "I am untouchable but fun" =)

Great looks & matching lipsticks to go love it. I love fashion, Hair styles, Beauty you name it all of it. Any women can have beauty on the outside & look like a million bucks but you have to have beauty within yourself to really shine through to your outside & many gorgeous women have this including me that show easily where as others don't.

This is a much needed post. I can't tell you how many times I've wondered.."Am I wearing the right color lips for this outfit?" Luckly my mom is a makeup artist so I usually just send her a pic. But this is better now I at least have a guide to help me out and I wont have to bother my mom so much. Lol

I don't really match my lippie with my outfit I just use the one with everything unless I was going out for dinner some where then it's different story I pick something that suits my outfit that I would be wearing that night. These ladies all look great some of them look more fantastic then others but over all there all the same.
