How Emma Watson found her edge
I’ll be honest, when I first laid my eyes upon an eleven-year-old Emma Watson, I didn’t see a future fashion and beauty icon hiding behind that frizzy hair and cherubic cheeks.
I also really thought she’d be another classic example of the ‘child star curse’ – when a supremely famous child actor grows up to be a bit of a hot mess because of all the fame and attention they get (think: McCauley Culkin, Miley Cyrus and Amanda Bynes.)
But no, when Harry Potter wrapped up in 2011, the 21-year-old star went off to college in the States to live a more low-key existence and chopped off her hair into an incredibly fashion-forward, Twiggy-esque pixie cut and began to embrace beauty looks that were bold, brave and utterly beautiful. She wasn't set on proving to the world that she was now a grown-up – she just acted it.
Now we continually see Emma on red carpet after red carpet sporting gorgeous make-up looks that range from deep, dark lips to smoky sultry eyes while always making sure her brows are nothing but gloriously full and groomed. She somehow manages to make her looks as girly and feminine as they are edgy. Plus, she’s no stranger to a bit of a grungy accessory or out-there (yet totally tasteful) outfit, like the leggings number she wore to the Golden Globes. It really is no surprise that she’s been the face of Burberry and Lancôme
