Schitt’s Creek fans: Here’s how to achieve Catherine O’Hara’s infamous ‘Moira lip’

At the glorious age of 66, Schitt’s Creek star Catherine O’Hara (AKA Moira Rose), has never looked better. And she doesn’t have a shred of plastic surgery to credit for it, either.

Speaking to Today, Catherine revealed that while investing in future-proofing her appearance is a priority, she is only interested in non-invasive methods. Her stance on face lifts? “I’m afraid of needles, except acupuncture needles,” she said, let alone going under the knife.

However, serums and creams are a little less daunting to the actress who said, “I wouldn’t mind spending a little more time and effort and money on good skin care”.

And while there is no denying that Catherine’s youthful complexion is enviable, when it comes to her beauty looks, it’s her iconic red lip that’s always front and centre.

The look, born out of Catherine’s role in comedy Schitt’s Creek, is thanks to makeup artist Lucky Bromhead.

Talking to Dave Lackie, Lucky revealed that  during the initial beauty brainstorm for character Moira Rose, “we decided that, like Anna Wintour’s hair, Moira’s makeup would be a defining element to her look and wouldn’t change too much.”

And despite the character’s many wig changes from episode to episode, Lucky says, “my favourite thing about Moira’s look is her lips”.

So to those who think they’re ‘too old’ for bold lipstick, we say pfffft – there’s no such thing. It’s all in the application. “We dramatically re-shape the lip sans cupid’s bow, and, to me, it really puts the finishing touch on the fabulousness that is former actress, forever fashionable, Moira Rose,” says Lucky.

When it comes to the perfect shade of red, Lucky relies on  M.A.C Lipstick in ‘Ruby Woo’ paired with M.A.C Lip Pencil in ‘Stripdown’ – both true classics.
