5 of the best long-lasting lip products

While reapplying lipstick gives you something to do (like when you’re out at a bar and being hit on by a weirdo and need an excuse to bail), no one actually likes doing it. Plus, it’s really annoying to have spent the time meticulously lining your lips and expertly layering them with colour only to have the shade seem almost non-existent after a few sips of your G&T.

Which is why I present you with five of the very best long-lasting lippies. Because if there’s one thing a girl should always rely on to last the distance, it should be her lip colour.
ESTÉE LAUDER PURE COLOR ENVY LIPSTICK
Give your lips lashings of saturated colour with this classic from Estée Lauder. It’s bursting with multifaceted colour pigments to define your pout with luscious colour for up to six hours. Run, don’t walk!
“The formula is spot on! I am addicted to matte lipsticks but make an exception for this creamy finish because it doesn't budge! ” – Emma 458.

YVES SAINT LAURENT ROUGE PUR COUTURE GLOSSY STAIN
This liquid lip colour is famous for its pretty packaging and how long it lasts. But on top of that, it leaves lips with a gorgeous satin finish and offers SPF 15 protection. A winner all-round.
“The pigmentation of this product is like no other – it lasts through food, kissing and day-to-day activities. By the end of the day I’m still left with a slight tint to my lips.” – ray_jay.

AUSTRALIS GO LONG LONGWEAR LIPSTICK
If you’re looking for a long-lasting lipstick with an almost-matte finish, then this is just what you’ve been looking for you. Oh, and you won’t be disappointed with how it feels on your lips, either.
“What I like is that they wear and wear without fading! I hate touching up during the day and I hate products that wear on the inside of my lips, leaving me with a ring of colour on the outside. These don't do that! They hold up while eating and drinking too!” – breathesarah.

REVLON COLORBURST™ BALM STAIN
The crayon-like lip stain works a treat to coat your lips in a colour that’ll last but without that dried-out feeling. Just take note that it won't leave a pigmented finish all day, but rather a flush of colour.
"I find they do stay on quite a while, even with talking/eating/drinking. They are affordable and have a gorgeous shine to them." - Brittbut90

Anyone remember the cyclax lipsticks? They were amazing. They had a great scent, were wonderfully hydrating and creamy and lasted for hours even if you had consumed a meal the lipstick still remained.

Ye, yes, yes - Cyclax anything was lovely, wasn't it, Meedee? My first skin care item was a Christmas gift of Cyclax Milk of Roses. Divine but boy, I'm showing my age.

My lips are too dry for long lasting lipstick so I line and fill with liner and then add lipstick. I have a few good Lauder ones that moisture and last for a few hours.

I find the same thing - liner all over my lips and then a coloured lip balm seems to work the best!

I loved using the Revlon Colourburst lippies. I remember buying them when they first came out and it would moisturise my lips the whole day.

I think only the darker/brighter colours of the YSL glossy stains work as a stain, as the lighter colours don't show up on my pigmented lips

I'd love to be able to afford the Estee Lauder lipstick - I have a couple of their lipsticks from GWP and they are pretty awesome.

Why update an article when one of the products has been discontinued & another is on the way out?
I nominate:
1. Rimmel Provocalips (two step)
2. Austrlalis Velourlips
3. L'Oréal Paris Infallible 2-Step Longwear Lipstick
4. Maybelline New York SuperStay 24hr (two step)
It's hard to beat those two step lippies for endurance.

Plus a lot of people are on holidays so have more time to read the stories so something new would be nice, maybe BH could stockpile some stories for this time of year.

It's been happening too regularly lately, so many old articles with discontinued products, and nothing new in the article, being posted up on the front page like a new story.
What happened to new content on this site on a regular basis, other sites don't re-hash old material like this

I'm a bit over it too. I kind of understand some of it reappearing over the Xmas-New Year break while everyone is on leave, but it gets tired quickly and would have been nice to have some new content scheduled over the period. The site looses its freshness quickly with this approach, especially when care isn't taken to check if the products featured are still relevant.

I agree completely about reusing old articles, misfortune8, especially when the authors are no longer with BH and haven't been for some time.

I hate it when lipstick colours and even formulas are discontinued without notice. I would love to know what the colour of the No 4 is in the pic - it's my kind of colour.

Im surprised that I haven't tried any of the products on this list

Hmmm...I think I disagree about the glossy stain - the gloss wears off in about 2-3hrs.

I was told by estee lauder staff double wear stay was down to only three colours with the intention of discounting this product. . its not available in 2017. I think the new product is estee lauder pure colour envy long lasting because this is the one i have.
Great to see so many members having reviews published. Pleased.
I think for me prep is the key. And using two coats with a brush & blotting in between. Powder in between also helps to matte & make it longer. Matte is the best for longer wear.

I do not look for 'long lasting' lip products as I have to wipe all the paint off my lips before eating (eating lip paint.... [shudder]). So it defeats the purpose.
