This is the sort of product that makes you weep.

As soon as you pick up the product you know why it costs as much as it does. It is stunning and elegant. You already feel more gorgeous as you open it up, and you haven't even applied it yet!

I had never used anything like it before. This was perhaps 6 or 7 years ago?
I loved how you could make the product be whatever you wanted it to be. Everything from a slight playful tint of colour right down to layered, gorgeous depth of colour.

The consistency was just beautiful. It would just glide on effortlessly, the wand was a unique implement that gave you absolute precision. There was no bleeding, no matter how many layers you put on. Even if you wore it all day, there was no problem adding another layer, as it never dried out, nor did it ever get sticky. At 'worst' what you got was a gentle fade back to a basic, but beautiful lip stain.

Writing this review is actually brining back vivid memories of when I had one of these, it was Rouge Gouache. I can actually smell it and I can recall how it felt when I applied it to my lips. Wow, this is kinda spooky! This stuff obviously made quite a mark on my psyche, I think it is time to treat myself to another one!

I have this lip stain in #12 which is a coral/pink in the tube but it appears slightly darker like a raspberry colour when on my lips. The staying power of the lip stain is amazing and it doesn't feel sticky when applied to your lips and is not drying at all. It is very pigmented so I only need to apply 1 or 2 layers depending on how dark I want the colour to be. The packaging is so pretty, just like every YSL product. It is a little bit expensive but it is worth every cent!

YSL Glossy Stains are some of my favourite lip glosses. I own Peche Cerra Cola, which is a goregous milky coral. The Glossy Stain line holds a beautiful range of shades, from a dark plum, to a classic red, to a neutral pink. This means that there's a colour for ever occasion!

The formula is beautiful - I would describe it a thin gel gel. However - it is very pigmented. It will only take 1 layer of colour for the darker colours, but for the more neutral colours you will probably need 2 layers. However, these are thick or heavy layers, you only need a little bit of product. The formula itself is a hybrid between a stain and a gloss - it has an immediate gloss finish, but after about 3-4hrs after the gloss wears off, you're left with a stain. I really like this concept and execution because most of the time with glosses, you have to regularly reapply them to maintain colour on your lips - but with these you can pop them on and forget about them. Love it!

The packaging is quite cute. It is lightweight plastic so it won't weigh down your makeup bag, nor do you have to worry about it breaking it you accidentally knock it off your counter. The Glossy Stain applicator is a pointed sponge tip, which easily deposits the gloss on your lips.

An all-round great lip gloss-stain!

I first purchased one of these stains about a year ago on an impulse buy - naughty - but I've never ever looked back.
The Glossy Stain comes in a beautiful gold top with the YSL logo on the top. It clicks out and then you're left with a lovely end tip to stain and cover your lips. (A doe-foot application which helps with perfect application, and helps to highlight your cupids bow for bigger lips). I love this as I can apply to my lips and cupids bow precisely!
The size of the container is perfect to keep in your handbag and carry around. Plus on the side of the container you can see the colour and see how much is left in the product, so you know before opening which one you're using!
The lip stain applies smoothly and easily over your lips- applying inside the lines and never looking dry or cracking into lines or dry bits! The best way in which I would describe this product is in between a long wearing lipstick and a lip gloss- yes a lip stain, but it really stains your lips. The colour initially applies very vibrant - I would call it a medium colouring which can feel slightly sticky but then it gradually fades into a satin almost matte finish. However, it still looks super shinny and fades during wear over the day leaving your lips with a tint. The pigmentation of this product is unlike no other- it lasts through food, kissing, and day to day activities. At the end of the day I'm still left with a slight tint to my lips.
The glossy stain won't dry your lips out which I was worried about- the product is a long wearing stain but unlike others I've tried there is nothing to fear about drying and feathering lips. However if you have extremely dry lips I'd probably put gloss on or a balm first and let it dry before applying this product.
In terms of removing the product - I don't have any problems- it comes off with soap and water or a good make up removal product. The only negative to this product I have found is the smell- like a few other reviewers, I'm not a fan, its very strong, it does fade but I don't like it. It's really heavily perfumed and it doesn't really need that to be honest.

Overall this is my favourite lip product ever- it's expensive but it's pretty, lives up to its claims, and lasts forever! I now have three- I think it's perfect for middle 20s to late 30s as it is pretty and shiny but still long lasting without looking like your 16!

For those who want a lip gloss that will last and not turn into lip liner by the end of the day, look no more! Once again YSL has out done itself by creating this innovative lipGloss and stain which provides long lasting colour and a sheer finish. I have this in number 10 and I must say..a little goes a long way! The applicator allowed for the product to be dapped on and glided easily, it does smell like wine which did match the red wine colour which lasted for maximum 8 hrs, however once the gloss has gone you are left with lovely naturally stained lips. For a glamorous look this lip-gloss stain can be built upon to get a rich ruby red colour, otherwise dab on for a petal red finish. Only downside would be that it can be quite sticky as it is also a gloss which I personally don't like and if you are eating then you may need to reapply a little.

After rave reviews from just about everyone, I decided to finally get one of these for myself.
I really like nude lips so was drawn to the soft nude pink #18.
The packaging was nice, a little too plastic-y but luxe looking.
The doe foot applicator is quite wide, shaped more like a little trowel!
It's not the best for application as it just deposits the product on top of the lips, and I have to use my finger to press it on and blend in.
The gloss is nice, it feels watery at first, then dries down to a slightly sticky texture that stays on the lips for a few hours.
The fragrance is an overpowering floral scent that I could definitely do without.
The colour #18 is gorgeous when swatched, a pretty ballerina pink, but unfortunately it doesn't look great on me. It just seems to sit on top of my lips, and I have to use a little and blend in to make it wearable, but then the colour barely shows and I've just got a slight sheen on my lips.
The colour, as it's so pale, doesn't stain at all, so I can't say this colour makes full use of the ingenuity of this product.
I may purchase a brighter pink and may end up giving a rave review next time, but this colour was not the best choice to showcase this product, which is a shame because I really wanted to love this gloss.
It's a pretty colour, but $50 is A LOT to pay for a pretty pink lipgloss!

Yes, this product is $50. Yes, it is worth every cent.

It's what you always hope lip product is going to be. It's the perfect combination of gloss and matte. It stays on without drying lips and sinking into creases. And the colours - the colours are pigmenty, flattering perfection.

Not to mention how special you feel just putting it on from that golden tube.

I have the color Corail Poetique but on the bottle it says Corail Aquatic. I went to do some research about the color, and they're pretty similar. The reason why i chose this color is because it was recommended by a You tuber and it is soo beautiful in the video. I bought the ysl lip stick for Volupte Sheer Candy and this glossy stain has the same shade but more vibrant. I think this is suitable for formal occasions but looking natural at the same time. It also lasts a long through meals and workouts, no touch ups needed! At night I have to remove it with a makeup remover and it doesn't stain your lips. Love it! Will pruchase it again and recommended it to anyone at any age!

I doubt I'll ever find a lip product more fabulous than this one. Yves Saint Laurent's Rouge Pur Couture or "glossy stain" is essentially three lip products in one - a stain, a lipstick and a gloss.
Packaged in a square black holder with a window showing you the formula and colour within. It's finished off with a lovely gold lid. I have to say though that for the money, this packaging is on the cheap side, the gold lid broke off when I dropped it in my bathroom once so now I only have the stumpy black part.
Colour #15 is a super bright fuschia and I LOVE it, the shade flatters my mid-tone skin beautifully and somehow it manages to be bright without being OTT. The applicator (which I just discovered is called a doe-foot, thanks to fellow reviewer suelovexx) makes for fool-proof and precise application, the pointed tip outlines my rather pointy cupid's bow perfectly!
Upon application your lips looks super glossy with a rich pigmented colour now stained to your lips. Great for days of endless meetings and a party girls best friend, YSL's Glossy Stain is smudge, food, drink and kiss proof! The gloss doesn't last forever, but that's to be expected. But don't doubt the staying power of the colour - it's in it for the long haul ;)
Lost half a star for packaging and the taste - trust me when I say "don't like yo lips, you'll regret it!!"
