How often do you touch up your make-up during a day at work? Sometimes I completely forget. Other days I feel like I’m constantly fussing. But I prefer doing as little as possible.
So if, like me, you want a morning make-up look that lasts into the night, You’ve probably been wondering if any of the latest primers on the market could be your knight in (non) shining armour.
They go by many names, but primers are basically any skincare product designed to prep the complexion for an application of powder or liquid foundation base. And to keep it there. You simply apply to clean bare skin or after applying moisturiser.
One that I often reach for is MAC Prep and Prime Skin, a light-textured cream with reflective qualities that gives skin a lovely glow. That’s not to say it feels or appears shiny since there are special ingredients to absorb excess oil. I’ve tried it with various powders and a couple of liquid bases and find it pretty reliable at making sure my base doesn’t change colour through the day.I’ve also recently tried Sisley Radiant Immediate Lift as my daily primer. This one is so new you¹ll have to wait until it arrives at David Jones on 28 September to road-test it for yourself but it’s worth thinking about. Just like a genie in a bottle, it fulfils three wishes evening skin tone with a pretty mother-of-pearl effect, firming skin and extending make-up wear by keeping everything more matte.
But unlike most primers, this one can make a reappearance later in the day. You just pat it on lightly over make-up to tone down shine or amp up radiance your call. It sounds too good to be true but somehow it does both. Really. Impressive huh?
So, what primers have you tried?
