How to repair a broken lipstick in four simple steps

As far as beauty blunders go, few things are more frustrating than breaking your favourite lipstick.
But don’t toss it out just yet - there’s a way to turn your luck back around. So whether it’s completely flat, overly arched or just worn to the bone, this simple four-step trick from Today will transform your lippie back into its original shape. All you need is a naked flame, and a couple of minutes.

STEP 1: Light a candle.
STEP 2: Hover the lipstick over the flame of the candle to soften the bullet. Just be sure to keep it at a safe distance so it doesn’t melt!
STEP 3: Use a spoon to gently press the top of the bullet at a 45 degree angle.
STEP 4: Let it sit for around five minutes or until the bullet has hardened.
And there you have it - your lipstick should be as good as new again!

I would rather warm a spoon in hot water than put a lippie over a flame. I'd worry about the carbonisation factor. Icky woo woos!

It is a handy hack. Most of my lippies are pretty affordable so I don't mind replacing them. If I bought a high end lipstick, it would be a different story!

Nothing new. Or you can put the broken portion in a tiny storage jar and use lip brush to apply lipstick onto your lips

I've always just used it 'as is'. I'm not sure I'd bother trying to fix it even if I did have the time. Lipsticks are easier to work around, but when you drop your eyeshadow and it goes all crumbly, that's a bit harder to deal with.

I think this is really clever. Usually if I have a broken lipstick I'll just use a lip brush with it and store it in the lid. But this sounds like a good fix.

That's not really going to help if the lippy has snapped off the bullet entirely.
