How-to: Halloween make-up master class – page 2

Halloween is a chance for us to throw the make-up rules out the window and take on a different persona, with some creative make-up styles to match.

Whether you want to look beautiful or blood-curdling, there’s sure to be a make-up look that takes you away from your everyday look and straight into the swing of the scariest day of the year. Check out our ghoulishly glam favourites and get ready to get frightening this Halloween…

Sweet as sugar

The picture of beauty and innocence, MAC Artist, Gordon Espinet, created this look for the AW11 Behnaz Sarafpour show and wanted to ensure the eyes were the statement feature. That is, a wearable mixture of striking and sweet, like Kate Moss dressed as Brigitte Bardot… a girl who is sexy – but doesn’t know it.

Perfect for dressing as: a child bride, an angel or a ghost princess.

How to get the look at home:

  • -Start by covering your entire lid with a neutral shimmery shadow with light reflecting pigments. MAC Pro Longwear Shadows in Carefree and Sweet Satisfaction were used in this look.
  • -Then take a black pen eyeliner (like MAC Rapidblack Penultimate Eye Liner) and line your top lash line, creating a flick as you go. To perfect a flick, draw a 2cm vertical line straight up from the outer corner of your eye towards the end of your brow, then take the pen horizontally down back towards the inner corner of your eye, dipping down slightly as you draw. Fill in the area with the pen.
  • -To add a subtle glow to your cheeks, add a light dusting of blush over the apples of your cheeks and along the top of your cheekbones.
  • -For your lips, trace the outline with a neutral/slightly pink pencil (like MAC What Comes Naturally Lip Pencil) and then fill in the rest with the same pencil. To finish, apply a matching lipstick over the liner, being a little bit carefree so it doesn’t look too perfect. We like MAC Tanarama Lipstick for this look.
