What’s in your bag?

What’s in your bag?

I don’t know if you caught me on Sunrise this morning but Mel and Kochie called me in for a chat to talk handbags (and man bags) and more importantly what on earth we cart around in them.

Unilever (the company behind brands like Dove, Vaseline and Rexona) surveyed 1,000 Australians nationwide – guys and gals – and basically came to the conclusion that we are all “urban nomads” who lug around our life in our bags.

69 per cent of the women surveyed agreed that their bags are heavier and larger now than ever before, while a whopping 83 per cent of guys admit to owning a man bag and using it on a daily basis – it seems it’s no longer a fashion oddity only to be pulled off by celebs like sexy Becks, but an essential, a necessity.

As well as an influx of techie gadgets, it seems we’re reluctant to leave the house without our basics like deodorant, shampoo, hairspray, lip balm and perfume.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg, in my bag this morning there is (drum roll please): an umbrella, a note pad, a spare pair of shoes, Batiste Original Dry Shampoo, Vaseline Hand and Nail Lotion, Rexona Girl Tropical Energy Aerosol, Vaseline Lip Therapy SPF 15 (which is one of SIX lip products), perfume a la deux, make-up (far to much to go into but a notable mention must go to my new MAC Eye Shadow in Buckwheat as I love its chocolate shimmer) and the list goes on.

Am I concerned about a bad posture, backache and muscular strain? Well yes, but it seems I care about vanity more. Jokes aside, there is a solution: invest in some minis, they’re taking the beauty market by storm and are the key to looking good on the go.

Tell me what’s in your handbag (and why it’s a necessity not a negotiable) and you could score yourself a mini wonderland pack:
