As a teenager I didn't use a primer and my foundation always looked terrible (it always looked cakey and oily). Once I started using a primer I noticed that it had a nicer finish and it had a much longer wear on it.

A primer with SPF is very handy, as long as the colour and texture doesnt change that of the foundation's

Basically they are all the same you have bb, CC, Primer, Foundation you name it the a lot you only need one to use, One to do the job instead this marketing industry is telling us we need all of this when one is just fine. They want you to fork out thousands of dollars on all of this.

Serum and primer are definitely two of the best ideas to hit the beauty market recently as far as I'm concerned.

I had never used a primer until I got a sample of L'Oréal Base Magique in a goody bag. Now I get it, my makeup looks better, lasts better, and my skin doesn't get so oily. Definitely a step I don't skip now.

I've been trying out so many different types of primer. I have silicon based, mattifying and lately I've started using one by Iluka that seems to be just an extra layer of moisturiser. I even tried the Nivea Shave Balm everyone was going crazy over (again it was just like an extra layer of moisturiser).
I've discovered that different foundations I use work better with different primers. I prefer a thinner foundation and have found it works better with the primers that are more of a moisturiser. The silicon based primer is a must under any thicker or full coverage foundation.

Primer is important to wear under foundation, definitely! Designer Brands primer is really good.

I use face primer, eye primer and lip primer before my makeup application. Would feel lost without them.

It's when I wore my foundation without primer that I realised how important it was!

I just replied to one of your comments in another article (no I'm not stalking you MissM19)! When I was at DJs yesterday, the lady at Estee Lauder did one side of my face with serum and primer, the other side without. The feel was completely different, plus the makeup transferred very easily on the side without. This was with no powder to set (using Double Wear). Goes to show how helpful it is to prime!

I love Estee Lauder Double Wear! It's one of my favourite foundations so far for my dry and mature skin (applied with a blending sponge).

Just noticed something very crucial, why I disliked foundations all along. There is no way on earth to use good hydrating cream under as even waiting for an hour before applying foundation, it just sets weird (streaks, settling into pores, creating expression lines and staying ...), all of the ones I have tried so far. So to be "flawless" i have to use them on the bare skin, and they all make my skin dry :(
