Members review: new NYX makeup goodies
There is a new beauty product released almost every minute of every day*. So how are you meant to sort out the must-haves from the maybe-I’ll-leave-behinds?
Well, not to toot our own horns or anything, but using this site to read reviews from real women will do the trick.
That’s why we decided it was a non-negotiable to have a select few of our members try out the newest make-up releases from NYX (which is pronounced ‘Nicks’, just in case you didn’t know) at our latest Beauty Degustation event.
So here’s what they had to say about a few of the NYX newbies:
"I found this BB cream to be more like a foundation than any other BB cream I've previously tried. It definitely gives more coverage than most other BB creams. But who cares what it's defined as, I absolutely love it! Miraculously, this BB cream covers my skin's redness and blemishes and evens out my skin tone, making my skin look more radiant and smoother – and thus more youthful! Perfect for my ageing 40+ year old skin!" – Ingrid82.
“I was nervous to try this product as with many ‘drugstore’ BB creams, I’ve found ‘BB’ to mean lacking any pigmentation, an odd colour range that doesn’t suit my skin, an oily finish and resulting breakouts. However, when I tried this BB cream from NYX, I was very pleasantly surprised. The product comes in a 30mL squeeze tube, which makes dispensing the product very easy. The product itself is a creamy, nicely pigmented, oil-free BB cream that smooths easily over the skin. It gives a light-medium buildable coverage and disguises my imperfections while not looking cakey or unnatural.” – Amber382.
"Looking at the product in the pan, I first thought the colour may be too bright and intense for everyday wear, but after reading about it I learnt it can be applied wet with a sponge for the intense finish (and true-to-pan colour payoff) or dry with a brush for a lighter wash of colour. I apply this product the second way, dry with a blush brush. I swirl my brush around in the product and then brush onto my cheeks for a beautiful pink glow that is wearable with any everyday look." – Amber382.
"I have it in Pink Fetish, which is a versatile pink that would suit everyone from the palest of skin tones to the darkest. I have a medium skin tone and I swoosh my blush brush over it a couple of times to get the amount I need for my cheeks. For light and pale skin tones, I think one 'swoosh' of the brush would probably be enough and for those with darker skin tones, a few swooshes could be good!" - softness.
"It simply just glides on and is so buttery that I never felt any dryness. It is very moisturising and I also felt that it conditioned my lips – like a Chapstick. However, I had to keep reapplying as it wears off after a while. It's a good size and looks cool. I absolutely love it and will definitely try out their other shades." – lollipop.
"This butter lipstick has great pigmentation. It feels hydrating, creamy and comfortable to wear. It is non-sticky and has a satin-like finish, which I like. It actually seems to melt onto my lips like butter, so calling this range ‘Butter Lipsticks’ is very apt." - Ingrid82.
