Nude by Nature Pressed Mineral Cover put to the test

With a reputation for minimising imperfections while also nourishing the skin, it’s fair to say mineral make-up has gained somewhat of a cult following of late. With this in mind, we were very curious about the latest mineral offering to hit the market: Nude by Nature Pressed Mineral Cover

Formulated to smooth the appearance of imperfections, pores and fine lines, this convenient, compact foundation also contains key vitamins and minerals including titanium dioxide, iron oxide and vitamins C and E to help improve the condition of your skin.

Add to this that it’s free from talc, parabens and bismuth (so it won’t irritate sensitive skin) and is packed full of other beneficial ingredients, like Kakadu plum, vitamins C and E, avocado oil, jojoba oil, shea butter and kaolin clay – and you can imagine how excited our expert reviewers were to test it out.

So, did this promising foundation live up to the hype? And did it suit our expert reviewers’ varying skin tones and concerns?  See for yourself…

bh’s Kim:

“I’ve been a fan of mineral make-up for years now, so when I heard Nude by Nature had released a compact mineral powder, it was like my prayers had been answered. The compact form makes the make-up really easy to carry around and apply on the go (not an easy feat with loose mineral powder).

I look for medium to heavy coverage from a foundation to hide dark circles and any breakouts or redness I’m experiencing. When I applied the Nude by Nature compact, it covered all my imperfections beautifully while also looking natural and blending well with my skin colour. I achieved the most flawless and even results by buffing it in with the Nude by Nature powder brush, rather than applying it with the sponge that comes with the compact. I found that the sponge was best used for touch-ups throughout the day rather than the initial application.

The formula felt very smooth on my skin and not cakey or too powdery. By the end of a long day, I still had that even, velvety look that I love so much about mineral make-up.”

bh’s Vanessa:

“I absolutely love the Nude by Nature range and have been using their loose powder for a while now. When I was given an opportunity to trial the new pressed version, I was so excited! I have oily skin across my T-zone, so I was interested to see how the powder would last on this area during the day. I used a powder brush to pat on the powder. I generally prefer medium coverage, so I spent three to five minutes building the coverage up and buffing it in.

I think the foundation did a great job of covering the redness and minor imperfections on my face. I also found it kept my skin matte all day. In fact, it lasted the whole eight hours of work! I usually just pop on some blush and mascara to complete the ultimate natural look. I will definitely be using this pressed powder in the future.”

bh’s Rosie:

“When it comes to choosing a foundation, I’m all for super light formulations that let my skin breathe. Usually I apply a light liquid foundation and set it with a dusting of powder foundation, so I was really excited to see how my complexion would look after just using this pressed powder foundation.

I have a fair bit of redness in my skin, so when it came to applying the foundation with a brush, it did take some time to completely cover this redness. However, it applied very smoothly and evenly to my skin, and the semi-matte finish helped my skin stay grease-free all day long. I was really impressed with the medium-to-full coverage it gave my skin – my complexion didn’t look cakey or feel heavy at all. I would definitely recommend this foundation to anyone who wants even coverage with a semi-matte finish.”
