How-to: apply foundation with a brush
A foundation brush was the first make-up brush I ever owned – and yes I immediately felt like a make-up artist once I used it. But back then, I didn’t actually know how to properly. So if you’re just starting out, check out the video above to see how you can easily achieve a flawless finish.
The brush used in the video is the Eco-Tools Foundation Brush. The handle is made from earth-friendly bamboo and ferrule from recycled aluminium. It’s really easy to use, and the synthetic Taklon bristles are nice and soft on the skin, not to mention 100 per cent cruelty free.
Do you apply your foundation with a brush? What’s your top tip for flawless foundation?

I usually use a stippling brush, or my fingers, or a sponge. I haven't thought to use a brush before, and I can't believe I missed this video somehow. Thanks for an informative video, Sam! I have some brushes in my kit that I haven't used before, that might be perfect for this.

I use the L'oreal true match foundation, which has a very runny consistency. I prefer to dot it across my face and then use a buffing brush to smooth it all over.

I'm more of a beauty blender fan but brushes are the best for thicker foundations! Flat foundation brushes for, thicker liquids and stippling brushes for pan foundations work the best.

I have been using a brush to apply foundation, it does a much better job than using fingers that is for sure.

My first was a foundation brush too! I've now got my RT buffing brush and it's amazing! Great trips, I'll try applying them when I do my foundation. :)

I like using sponges the best even though my sisters say the brush I always best and better for your skin. So I tried a brush but it didn't work for me, it does leave streaks and i don't like the finish it give my foundation. So back to sponges and it gets rid of any heavy excess foundation. The keybto flawless skin/make up is a good primer and a moisturizer or a serum which I use daily before my foundation.

My first brush was an eye shadow brush and I use my fingers to blend my foundation. Most top makeup artists use a brush or sponge on clients but prefer to use their fingers to do their own makeup.

I always use my fingers.. I've always thought a brush would make it look painted on and thick but maybe I'll give it a go one of these days

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush is one of my favourite brushes, but that has been put to the aside (for a while) now that I'm using the sponge from Real Techniques. The sponge is essential if you have dry skin like me.
