Foundation tips for mature women

Finding a foundation that provides flawless coverage and lasts the day can be a pretty difficult thing. When you’re young you’re up against issues of oiliness, battling base that slides off your face midway through the day. Then, as you age and your skin becomes more prone to dryness, the problem shifts to finding a foundation that doesn’t cake, flake or settle into fine lines.
So what’s the secret to achieving that flawless, youthful-looking foundation finish when you have mature skin?
Firstly, you need to prep your skin with a serum. This will not only work to hydrate your skin and ensure that your foundation doesn’t flake, but if you choose one that’s specifically designed for more mature skin, you’ll be simultaneously treating your anti-ageing concerns, too. For an extra powerful pre-foundation age fighting solution, apply Lancôme Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate in conjunction with Lancôme Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector. Together, they’ll help hydrate, refine and even out your skin tone, as well as minimise fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and assist your skin’s repair process.
Next, opt for a treatment foundation. As you age, you’ll need more from your foundation than plain and simple coverage. Treatment foundations are formulated with hardworking ingredients that help to correct skin issues, such as discolouration, dark spots, and dark circles, as well as provide smooth, flawless coverage. Plus, given they’re targeting mature skin they’re usually more hydrating, too, so are less likely to settle into and exacerbate any fine lines or wrinkles. Lancôme Teint Visionnaire is one such foundation that ticks all the right boxes. Combining the advanced technology of Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector with the brand’s winning foundation formulation, it will leave provide long-lasting, natural looking coverage that leaves your skin looking smooth, even-toned and more youthful.
Finally, avoid heavy setting powders. These are great to use when you’re younger and you’re trying to combat an afternoon oil slick, but can leave maturing skin looking crepey and dry. If you’re using the fabulous products mentioned above your skin should be well hydrated and your foundation long lasting, so there’s really no reason to have to apply powders over the top.

Love Lancome's mascara, but haven't tried any foundation or serum products. I prefer using a light foundation with SPF - nothing too heavy that sinks into the wrinkles!

I like a liquid or cream foundation nothing to thick. A tinted moisturiser or a BB cream are excellent forms of having light foundation cover without the cakey look. SandraXxX

i tink spot concealing would be better followed with a subtle wash of high lighter and a nice blush

I prefer using a foundation that has skincare benefits. The main thing to avoid is a cakey finish as this is very unflattering. The new Lancome foundation is fascinating - look forward to reading reviews from those lucky ladies who are trialling it.

I've noted at times my mother would put on her foundation quite heavy, I mentioned that she should try a lighter approach and now I can notice she has been doing that-and it looks much nicer and not over the top.

Sometimes I think your better off without foundation as you age, I have tried a few different things out there even though I have never really been a user of it, and it just does not look good at all.. BB cream can be good, but in small amounts, and just for the evening of skintone as opposed to hiding the fine lines etc.
